Performance Media Manager

Come help shape the growth of Johnson Outdoors by managing the global performance marketing strategies for our iconic outdoor brands in Fishing, Watercraft, Camping and Diving!

The person is this role leads and optimizes performance marketing strategies in paid search, social, display, and other channels to drive high converting, profitable campaigns.They will drive DTC revenue through full-funnel global paid media campaign performance, meeting or exceeding KPI targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategy development: Oversees the development and execution of DTC performance marketing strategies and plans for all JO brands to achieve business results. Aligns with BUs on annual plans and expected results; partners with media agency to drive high converting, profitable campaigns, recommend key performance indicators (KPIs) for each funnel tactic, and set performance targets for marketing campaigns.
  • Planning: Lead the media planning process, which includes partnering with Brand Management teams to deliver annual GTM/Marketing plan briefings, target consumer identification, and campaign plans (e.g., new product launches, etc.) to agencies and cross-functional teams.
  • Campaign Briefings: Contribute to the campaign briefing process by collaborating with Brand Management on the development and delivery of campaign briefs to external agencies and internal teams (e.g., Content Marketing)
  • Budget & forecasting: Supervises budget management, key tactics, and spend for paid media plan, along with channel forecast and budget recommendations; partners with agency to adjusts tactics based on shared learning and opportunities.
  • Learning plan: Develops clear testing and measurement roadmap to optimize campaigns for better performance (includes A/B testing, audience segmentation, retargeting, and placement); collaborates with internal and external teams to manage.
  • Analytics: Analyzes campaign performance to identify trends, insights, and areas for improvement. Closely monitors KPIs and metrics (e.g., CTR, CPC, ROI, ROAS) to evaluate campaign effectiveness, optimize underperforming campaigns, and maximize ROI.
  • Relationship management: Owns relationships with media agencies, relevant media partners, and performance marketing technology vendors (including product feed management), suggesting new vendors as fit. Hold agencies accountable to performance targets.
  • Performance reporting: Establishes a cadence of performance reporting using KPI dashboards. Shares campaign performance with management and BUs, offering actionable insights.
  • Campaign management support: Oversees campaign management and ad account management by team members and agencies, ensuring progress on goals and timelines.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborates with teams such as content marketing, integrated marketing, merchandising, product, and sales teams to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach. Partners with Brand Management and Sales (for promotions) to evaluate opportunities to improve campaign effectiveness, and conversion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibility:
  • Manages, controls, and/or recommends budgets within approved guidelines.
  • Coaches and mentors
  • In partnership with human resources, performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes but is not limited to the following: hiring and terminating employees, promotions/pay adjustments, staff development, performance evaluations, resolution of employee concerns and disciplinary counseling.

Knowledge & Background Requirements:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in marketing, business management or equivalent.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible performance marketing and/or paid media experience.
  • Performance-driven and seasoned in driving profitable DTC eCommerce paid media campaign execution for multiple brands simultaneously
  • Proven experience managing and optimizing campaigns on Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads Manager, and other digital platforms
  • Experience building and analyzing performance marketing campaigns, preferably in a seasonal business and/or durable consumer goods
  • Strong proficiency using data analysis tools such as Google Analytics.
  • Excellent understanding of paid social, paid search, display, and other digital marketing channels and tactics
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities to manage, guide/coach and successfully lead internal and external teams, partners, and processes.
  • Experience managing multiple external agencies which includes budgets, timelines, and oversight of performance targets.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in executing, analyzing, optimizing, and reporting on campaigns.
