Job Title: Ecumenical Music Director
Job Type: Part-Time
Location: Little Rock AFB, ARQualifications:
  • Minimum two years of experience directing a choir or band.
  • Knowledge and experience in ecumenical worship music (liturgical, traditional, and contemporary).
  • Proficient in reading music, directing musicians, and leading choir activities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with chapel staff, contractors, and parishioners.
  • Ability to serve in a multi-faith chapel setting.
  • Innovative, self-starter with strong problem-solving skills.
Duties:
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead music and choir performances for worship services, special/holy day services, and rehearsals.
  • Manage pre-service coordination, setup, warm-up, and facility management for each service unit.
  • Attend meetings as required by the Wing Chaplain to report on programs.
  • Collaborate with the service chaplain and musicians to prepare for specific service requirements.
  • Oversee facility setup, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for services.
  • Lead congregational hymns and special music, primarily on Sundays with weekly rehearsals.
  • Develop an annual calendar of events and budgets for music, equipment, and supplies in consultation with the Chapel Primary POC.
  • Coordinate musical selections with the Lead Chaplain and musicians, submitting them for approval at least 5 days before services.
  • Prepare and utilize digital worship music software; submit digital copies of music for bulletins as needed.
  • Be present 30 minutes before services for setup and warm-up.
  • Ensure choir rehearsal and performance areas are properly prepared and restored, minimizing hazards and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date music library.
  • Recruit, train, and direct adult and children's choirs and soloists.
  • Provide statistical data and reports when requested.
  • Secure chapel facilities and any other spaces used during programs.
