As the Assistant News Director, you will play a pivotal role in helping lead and manage our newsroom team to ensure that our news coverage meets the highest standards of quality, relevance, and accuracy. You will work closely with the News Director to shape the editorial direction of the newsroom and support day-to-day news operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the News Director to set the editorial vision and direction for the newsroom.
- Assist in maintaining and upholding editorial standards, ethics, and guidelines.
- Act as a key decision-maker in the absence of the News Director.
- Oversee the planning and execution of news coverage across multimedia platforms.
- Coordinate story assignments, resource allocation, and scheduling.
- Ensure efficient news gathering and production processes.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to reporters, editors, producers, and other newsroom staff.
- Assist in recruiting and onboarding newsroom talent.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the content strategy.
- Work with the News Director to identify and prioritize key news stories and topics.
- Assist Engineering in maintaining newsroom workflows and equipment, ensuring employees understand procedures and workflows.
- Ensure that storytelling approaches align with audience engagement goals.
- Promote audience engagement and interaction through innovative storytelling methods.
- Analyze audience data and feedback to refine content strategies.
- Collaborate with the digital team to maximize online and social media presence.
- Collaborate with the producing team to maximize on-air presentation of content.
- Uphold ethical standards and journalistic principles within the newsroom.
- Assist in handling sensitive editorial decisions with professionalism and integrity.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in a newsroom leadership role, such as an assignment editor, news manager, or similar position is a plus.
- Strong editorial judgment and a deep understanding of journalism ethics.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
- Ability to drive innovation and adapt to evolving media landscapes.
- Familiarity with multimedia news production and digital storytelling.
- Proficient level of computer experience.
