Summary
News Reporter(s) are responsible for particular beats that are assigned to them by the News Editor, and writing news stories based around those beats, which will be published. The News Reporter(s) are responsible for producing one to two news stories for every issue of The Xavierite.

- MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY- FEDERAL WORK STUDY REQUIREDFEDERAL WORK STUDY REQUIRED
Experience in journalism, communication, or English preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Reports on all SXU and local area news events
- Produces one-two articles per week
- Writes stories following the pyramid news writing style
- Ensures all articles are written accurately, fairly, and with as little biased as possible following journalist standards and ethics.
- Is a leading member of the Student Media Street Team
- Attends general staff meeting
- Meets weekly with Section Editor
- Maintain weekly-posted office hours in The Xavierite office (4 hours per week).
- Attends news writing workshop held by Director of Student Media
- Assists with the layout of the section
