Position Overview
Academic Success (Success Initiatives - Success Operations) is seeking an intern to work on a variety of photography projects and assignments in support of many Academic Affairs units. As an intern on the Digital Media team, you receive mentorship by expert specialists, are provided with career relevant networking opportunities, and provides portfolio-building projects in a variety of digital media needs. This intern must be a free and creative thinker bringing new ideas to the table with the ability to collaborate and grow with their team. The Digital Media Team office, located at Summerfield 206, operates from 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.
Per the State of Kansas, student employees may hold concurrent appointments not to exceed maximum appointment and hours worked levels. However, concurrent student appointments must be of matching FLSA designation (exempt/salaried or non-exempt/hourly).

- Assist with the creation and implementation of photography content for educational, promotional and student-facing purposes.
- Develop motion graphics as needed.
- Perform and execute photography assignments as requested on established deadlines.
- Support Videography Intern, working in tandem on certain assignments and projects as requested.
- Support Social Media intern to develop and produce content across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat, TikTok, Youtube, X).
- Maintain the social media account for Humans of KU by screening and conducting interviews and creating content for the page.
- Be an active participant in the workflow of each project and assignment involving deliverables for units served and other student interns on their direct team.
- Maintain consistent and appropriate communications with Supervisors and Student Intern team.
- Understand intended audiences and knowledge of past, current and future trends to successfully aid in trend-forecasting to create content they may not be shared during their internship.

Required Qualifications
- Experience with planning, directing, shooting and editing photography-based work product.
- Intermediate experience, knowledge and skills with Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom), and/or similar photo editing and motion graphics programs.
- Intermediate experience with Canva.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and projects independently to meet established deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills as demonstrated by application materials.
- Previous experience with camera and lighting equipment.
- Participation in professional development through attendance of keynote presentations, Q&A sessions and workshops assigned to the Digital Media team.
- Flexibility in adjusting deadlines for deliverables throughout the design process.
- Ability to work in office and on location for assignments.
- Understanding that certain requirements must be met to receive internship credits through The University of Kansas.
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Adobe Animate or similar motion graphics programs.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 364.
- Self-starter who can take artistic direction and contribute original ideas in a collaborate manner within the team.
- Ability to focus and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Creative and innovative strategical thinking with the ability to understand the history of photography as a medium to effectively produce content for communicated purposes.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of digital marketing related to the use of photography.
- Knowledge of management and planning strategies for design focused collaborative projects.
