Senior Finance Reporter Job at The Information in New York
The Information, New York, NY, United States, 10292
About The Information
The Information is the go-to source of in-depth reporting for the most influential leaders in technology and business. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in San Francisco, our original, high-quality journalism has the power to inform the most consequential decisions shaping our future, and we've built a community of 700,000 active readers who depend on us to do just that. We have a financially healthy business, plenty of capital, and big ambitions to grow our team and business.
About the role
We're seeking a senior finance reporter to break news and write deeply reported features on the deals and people shaping Wall Street, particularly as traditional finance chases the wealth and opportunities created by tech. Depending on the reporter's areas of expertise, this role could be more closely focused on tech M&A or the inside power struggles and rising stars of the institutions fighting for these deals. This experienced reporter would play a lead role in The Information's one-year-old finance section and work closely with our best-in-class newsroom of tech and venture capital reporters.
Wall Street and Silicon Valley have never been more tightly intertwined. Investment banks like Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are jostling to lead the next generation of tech IPOs and mergers, firms such as Citadel are embracing generative AI for trading, and PE firms like Apollo are fueling a boom in private debt. Our reporters regularly beat our competitors on inside stories such as the ouster of Nextdoor's CEO, the boardroom fight at installment lender Klarna, the hardware ambitions of OpenAI's Sam Altman, and the SoftBank founder's secret project.
The reporter would help us shape how we orient The Information's brand of inside-the-room, scoopy journalism toward a wider Wall Street audience. We are looking for someone with at least five years of reporting experience in any finance beat, with a track record of scoops and a keen interest in writing about the money and institutions investing in tech companies. The candidate would work in our growing New York newsroom and closely with reporters in San Francisco and Hong Kong.
