The Information Company is hiring: Reporter, Elon Musk & Co. (Tesla, SpaceX) in
The Information Company, New York, NY, United States, 10261
About The Information
The Information is the go-to source of in-depth reporting for the most influential leaders in technology and business. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in San Francisco, our original, high-quality journalism has the power to inform the most consequential decisions shaping our future, and we've built a community of 700,000 active readers who depend on us to do just that. We have a financially healthy business, plenty of capital, and big ambitions to grow our team and business.
About the role
We're seeking a reporter for one of the most riveting beats in tech and business: the world of Elon Musk. The billionaire Tesla CEO's reach extends from electric vehicles and solar roofs, to rockets, social media and now artificial intelligence. We are seeking a reporter who can dig into his businesses to get ahead of their next moves and answer the biggest questions, from the future of Tesla's robotaxi ambitions to a SpaceX IPO to xAI ambitions to supplant OpenAI.
This is a job for a reporter who has experience developing a beat and breaking news and wants the variety-and challenge-that comes with covering companies in different industries, led by a mogul who frequently lands in court.
We've already established ourselves on the Musk beat by breaking news on Tesla layoffs, SpaceX rocket problems and xAI 'super computer' plans as well as profiling the individuals that surround him, from Gwynne Shotwell to the Gigafund. We want to keep up that momentum with a reporter who also is excited to adapt the beat as Musk's focus changes-as it surely will.
We are a collegial newsroom and the reporter can expect to work closely to confirm tips and flesh out stories with our award-winning venture and tech reporters. Articles will range from 500 word scoops to deeply reported profiles and tick-tocks on big events. We write very little on commodity news, freeing up reporters to develop sources and work on harder-to-tackle stories.
What you'll do
Salary Range: $80,000 - $160,000 USD Annually + Bonus + Benefits
The salary range posted is based on the company's good faith belief at the time of the posting. Actual compensation may vary above or below this range based on factors such as location, work experience, and skill level.
We are an equal-opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We are committed to diversity and to building an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds and ages.
