JOB AD / STUDIO STAFF - FULL TIME
SUMMARY //
The Front's Studio Staff is responsible for inspiring members to explore their creativity through the art of ceramics. Studio Staff will have a deep passion for ceramics, a strong foundation in various ceramic techniques, and the ability to foster a positive and engaging learning environment. This role involves designing and delivering curriculum in collaboration with the Arts Manager, guiding members in hands-on projects, and encouraging artistic growth.

The Front Climbing Club was Utah's first indoor rock-climbing gym, and one of the first in the nation. From its humble beginnings as The Body Shop back in the 80's to three best-in-class facilities today, The Front has never lost its soul or connection to its roots.
Since its inception, the Front Climbing Club has always been a place that looks to provide its members a space to learn, grow, and explore their passions. Studio 1396 looks to continue this trend by providing members a place to creatively express themselves through ceramic art.
RESPONSIBILITIES //
- Collaborate with the Arts Manager on lesson plans for members at different skill levels, project outlines, and syllabi that align with educational objectives and promote artistic development.
- Deliver dynamic and informative classroom instruction, demonstrating a wide range of ceramic techniques including hand building, wheel throwing, glazing, and firing.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity, experimentation, and collaboration among members.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the ceramics studio, ensuring that materials, tools, and equipment are readily accessible and well-maintained.
- Recycle and package clay for re-selling purposes. This includes using a drill to remix used clay and operating the pug mill mixer.
- Collaborate with the Arts Manager on kiln firings, ensuring proper loading, firing schedules, and unloading to achieve desired results.
- Educate members on studio safety protocols, proper tool usage, and proper handling of materials to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Assist in production of indoor and outdoor planter pots for all gym locations.
- Help maintain department resources including SharePoint, SOP List, Audits, and Notebook.
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS //
- A minimum of 5 years of working experience in the workforce.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience with ceramics in a studio environment.
- Proficiency in a wide range of ceramic techniques including hand building, wheel throwing, glazing, a variety of surface techniques, and kiln firing.
- Prior experience teaching ceramics to different age groups and skill levels is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey artistic concepts and technical instructions.
- Demonstrated passion for ceramics and a genuine desire to inspire and mentor members in their artistic journeys.
- Well-organized and capable of managing classroom materials, equipment, and administrative tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the overall arts education program.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Flexibility in working hours, as some evenings and weekends might be required as needed.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT //
The typical working environment for a Studio Staff member is a dynamic, studio-based setting, primarily within Studio 1396. They interact with various departments and employees, requiring frequent communication and collaboration across teams and within the Art Amenities Department. The role may involve managing multiple tasks simultaneously, such as loading kilns, member assistance, and administrative duties, all while adhering to tight deadlines.
SALARY RANGE //
This position is listed at $38,000 - $45,000 annual, depending on experience
