About the Role
The Lead UX Designer/Researcher is a core member of Randstad Digital's Customer Experience team, responsible for both crafting user experiences and conducting research using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who seamlessly integrates research and design practices, championing both as core elements of the design process for cross-channel experience design. This role requires a self-starter who can lead client user experience initiatives from research through design to deliver meaningful, actionable insights and impactful solutions.
The Lead UX Designer/Researcher will collaborate with Experience Design practice leaders and otherRandstad Digital team members (including visual designers, content strategists, engineers, etc.) to create effective, efficient, and satisfying customer experiences and user interfaces.

A Day in the Life: What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, product managers, business owners) to proactively identify, prioritize, plan, and execute high-impact research and design activities.
- Lead research initiatives that uncover actionable insights and evaluate design effectiveness.
- Translate research insights into wireframes, prototypes, and detailed user interface designs that improve usability and user satisfaction.
- Help clients determine the appropriate research and design strategy to answer critical questions and solve complex challenges.
- Identify research topics and questions by collaborating closely with clients and project stakeholders.
- Design research studies that focus on behavior and attitude, integrating these findings into the design process.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis (e.g., usability testing, ethnography, tree tests) and apply findings directly to design iterations.
- Create user journey maps, service blueprints, and personas to inform and guide the design process.
- Produce wireframes, prototypes, and mockups using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
- Facilitate design workshops, ideation sessions, and co-creation exercises with stakeholders and users.
- Advocate for a user-centered approach across the organization by balancing research-driven insights with innovative design solutions.
- Participate in thought leadership initiatives in both research and design within the company and industry.
Your Qualifications
- 8+ years' experience in a hybrid UX research and design role, with a strong portfolio of design and research projects.
- Deep understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methods as well as UX design principles and practices.
- Expertise in creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
- Strong ability to synthesize research findings into actionable design solutions.
- Proficiency in testing and designing websites and applications across a variety of devices and platforms.
- A strong storyteller, able to communicate findings and illustrate opportunities in clear, concise, and compelling ways.
- Experience conducting research and design activities within Agile environments, including participation in research and design sprints.
- Familiarity with concepts such as ResearchOps, journey mapping, journey management, co-creation, storytelling, and governance.
- Excellent relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- A passion for both user research and UX design, with a strong sense of human empathy and creativity.
It Would Be Great if You Also Had
- Experience managing research and design projects in healthcare, life sciences, or pharmacy industries.
- Advanced degree in Human Factors, Design, HCI, or related field.
- Consulting or agency experience (3+ years).
- Experience delivering end-to-end design and research projects, from concept to implementation.
- Interest in writing, public speaking, or contributing to professional communities.
