Due to growth, Stelter is adding a Backend Web Developer position. This position is responsible for supporting the development, integration, and maintenance of backend web systems. Working closely with the Digital Solutions Architect and the frontend development team, this role involves implementing backend solutions, database management, and ensuring efficient, secure, and scalable application functionality. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of backend technologies and be eager to develop their skills in custom application development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are fundamental duties that an individual who holds the position must perform. This is not an exhaustive list. Other duties, in addition to essential job functions, will be assigned in the discretion of management.
1. Backend Development Support
• Assist in the development and maintenance of server-side logic, database management, and APIs to support frontend functionality.
• Write clean, maintainable code following best practices for backend development.
• Support the integration of third-party services, APIs, and other data systems as required by project needs.
2. Database Management and Optimization
• Develop, maintain, and optimize database queries, stored procedures, and data models to ensure data integrity and efficient access.
• Assist in managing database migrations, backups, and performance tuning to support application scalability.
3. System Integration and Troubleshooting
• Collaborate with the Digital Solutions Architect to integrate backend systems with external platforms, ensuring smooth communication between different systems.
• Provide technical troubleshooting support for backend issues and implement fixes as needed.
4. Security and Compliance
• Implement security best practices to ensure data protection and prevent unauthorized access or data breaches.
• Work with the Digital Solutions Architect and Information Security Engineer to maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.
5. Testing and Documentation
• Participate in testing, debugging, and performance optimization to ensure reliable functionality of backend systems.
• Write and maintain clear documentation for code, architecture, and processes to facilitate future development and troubleshooting.
6. Collaboration and Project Support
• Work closely with frontend developers to ensure seamless integration between the frontend and backend systems.
• Support the Digital Solutions Architect in project planning, providing input on time estimates and resource requirements.
• Collaborate with the web development team to ensure that backend systems align with the overall product vision and deliverables.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
• Experience with backend programming languages (C# and Javascript)
• Familiarity with related backend development languages, tools and technologies (e.g. .NET, REST APIs, PHP, database systems like SQL or NoSQL).
• Practical knowledge of Git, Github and version control
• Basic understanding of cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) and deployment processes.
• Exposure to web security principles and experience implementing security features.
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate with a cross-functional team, including frontend developers, project managers, and other stakeholders.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in backend web development or related programming experience.
• Familiarity with backend frameworks, databases, and cloud services preferred.
