Job Description

McLaughlin Research Corporation (MRC) is seeking a Technical Writer/Technical Illustrator to support the Maintenance and Process Publications functional area in the Fleet Engineering Branch at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center division Newport.

The candidate will be part of a cross functional team responsible for managing, revising, and distributing technical documentation to the United States Navy.

Due to the complex subject matter of the documentation, strict attention to detail is required.

The candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, schedule driven environment, and, be able to handle multiple projects with variable outcomes.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities will include:

Collaborating with engineers, technicians and subject matter experts to write, edit, test, and distribute interactive maintenance procedures using a custom application developed by the Naval Undersea Warfare Center division Keyport

Supporting the development of a comprehensive graphics library by converting CAD products into vector based line drawings for technical manuals and creating new, or, modifying existing vector based line drawings using Adobe Illustrator

Editing and proofing technical documentation to support change requests and revisions while ensuring all DoD and Military standards are followed

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree

Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy

Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro

Proficient with Microsoft 365 applications

Proficient with Markdown, HTML, XML, CSS and JavaScript

Able to quickly learn new tools and applications

Able to work independently or as part of a team

Experience with MIL-STD-38784 and MIL-STD-24784
