Are you a technical writer who is passionate about video games? Do you want to work with an AWS service that powers the world's most demanding games? The Technical Content Experience (TCX) group, also known as AWS Documentation, is looking for a technical writer to support AWS Game Tech services.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Author and deliver high-quality conceptual, procedural, and API documentation
  2. Develop, negotiate, and drive documentation plans in alignment with product strategy
  3. Gather and analyze customer engagement data to improve content performance
  4. Work with other writers to improve how we write
  5. Identify and drive opportunities to improve process efficiency

A day in the life

A Game Tech technical writer works on a team with other writers, contributing to the priorities of the Game Tech service. You’ll focus heavily on the doc lifecycle, creating documentation content plans, writing documentation, working within AWS services to gain domain expertise, and addressing customer feedback. In addition, you will spend time working with designers and product managers on early product and feature designs to improve the customer experience.

About the team

The AWS Documentation team writes and provides support for a diverse technical audience, including developers, DevOps professionals, IT professionals, and technical program managers. On behalf of our customers, we innovate, research, learn, and experiment. We collaborate with product managers to understand our customers’ needs. We partner with software developers to learn about the inner workings of AWS services, to influence product design and the customer experience. What we do makes a difference to our customers. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Degree or certification in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience
  2. A minimum of 3 years of experience designing and producing content for a technical audience
  3. Experience using content publishing tools to write, format, manage, and publish technical content on the web

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  2. Experience with video game development
  3. Experience working with XML or Markdown-based documentation systems
  4. Experience working with Git or similar distributed version control system
  5. Familiarity with using and following a style guide
  6. Experience designing, planning, and delivering content that meets the needs of a technical audience
  7. Experience working directly with teams of software engineers
