Medical Writing Scientist III

The Scientific Communications and Strategy team drives the creation of high-quality documents and strategic insights that contribute to the overall success of our business. Our team of scientists, writers, researchers, and graphic designers collaborate with internal business units and Pharma/Biotech clients to conduct real-world evidence research, advisory boards, focus groups, and other market research projects that address complex topics relevant to advancing healthcare. Scientist medical writers provide content creation and execution of market research activities that address critical issues in the world of oncology, primarily, but also within rheumatology, ophthalmology, neurology, and other areas as we continue to grow as an organization.

Currently, we are looking to fill the role of a Scientist III Medical Writer on our team. The individual who accepts this role should be a highly motivated writer with previous experience in life science research who is ready to produce quality, data-driven content for a variety of communication purposes. This position will focus on therapeutic areas such as oncology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, and ophthalmology, among others. Responsibilities

  1. Communicate medical/technical information to targeted audiences (e.g., pharma, provider, general population)
  2. Support internal publications (conduct background product/disease state literature reviews; write manuscripts; facilitate comment resolution with authors; review and revise manuscripts per editor comments; etc.)
  3. Create data-driven content (slide decks, discussion guides, etc.) for live and virtual events
  4. Attend live and virtual meetings to ensure the successful execution of content strategies created by the Scientific Communications and Strategy team.
  5. Prepare summaries (e.g., topline, executive, or final reports) and other requested deliverables post virtual/live events
  6. Attend research conferences and create news briefs that outline important scientific finds in the realm of oncology (and other clinical areas, as appropriate)
  7. Develop relationships with key opinion leaders by collaborating on content and publications
  8. Create disease state decks
  9. Create content for promotional and digital communication pieces

Experience

  1. A graduate-level degree (Masters, PhD, PharmD, DO, MD, or DVM) in the life sciences or a related field is required
  2. 1-3 years of experience working as a scientific or medical writer (or experience writing abstracts and manuscripts while working as a research scientist) highly preferred
  3. Experience in clinical or research-based oncology is preferred
  4. Experience in other clinical (rheumatology, urology, neurology, gastroenterology, etc.) or basic science research (neuroscience, genetics, cellular biology, etc.) areas is also a plus

Preferred Skills, Qualifications, or Technical Proficiencies

  1. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  2. Strong technical and mechanical writing skills
  3. Excellent data interpretation skills
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and build relationships with a cross-functional team of project managers, business development leaders, other writers, editors, physicians, and clients
  5. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Teams
  6. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and team-oriented environment
