Amida Technology Solutions is seeking a Content and Technical Writing Manager. This role will report to Director of Content and Capture. It requires an individual who excels in developing and managing compelling content and possesses deep knowledge and experience, particularly in healthcare and data innovation technologies. Through practical knowledge management, automation tools, and strict adherence to branding and style guidelines, the Manager of Content and Technical Writing ensures success in delivering excellent technical content and proposals, primarily for the public sector. Key Responsibilities:
First 3 Months:
- Assessment and Planning:
- Complete comprehensive onboarding to understand company policies, solutions, tools, and processes
- Conduct a thorough evaluation of the current technical writing processes and the state of the proposal content
- Identify gaps in processes, tools, and resources
- Develop a detailed action plan to address identified gaps and improve efficiency.
- Review/continuously update the existing corporate style guide and create a proposal style guide
- Opportunity Knowledge Development:
- Creation of a structured knowledge base, including key topics and content areas.
- Identification and organization of existing content to populate the knowledge base
- Establish a process for regularly updating and maintaining the knowledge base
- Thoroughly evaluate submitted proposals for "net new" or updated content and technical solutions for incorporation into the knowledge base
- Team and Relationship Building:
- Evaluate the skills and capabilities of the existing team
- Identify training needs and opportunities for professional development
- Get to know the stakeholders, including leadership, subject matter experts (SMEs), technical/proposal writers, and business development personnel, to understand current process flows and identify areas for improvement
- Initial Implementation:
- Initial setup and configuration of the RFX automation tool.
First 6 Months:
- Process Development:
- Implement standardized processes for technical writing and proposal content projects
- Review templates and guidelines to streamline technical documentation and proposal efforts
- Introduce best practices for technical writing, documentation, and proposal knowledge management
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting metrics for the technical writing team based on workstream (e.g., proposal support or service delivery)
- Resource Allocation and Tool Implementation:
- Fully implement the RFX automation tool and integrate it into the proposal and technical writing workflow
- Implement a review and approval process for all technical documentation and proposal knowledgebase content
- Content Creation:
- Lead the technical writing team in performing quality and compliance checks against the proposal or deliverable contractual requirements and document lessons learned for continuous improvement
- Develop high-quality baseline corporate, solution, and technical proposal content
- Ensure all content aligns with company standards and client requirements
First 12 Months:
- Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of newly implemented processes, tools, and the knowledge base
- Make adjustments as necessary to ensure ongoing improvement and efficiency
- Team Leadership:
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment
- Encourage professional growth and development within the team
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop long-term strategies for the technical writing and proposal content departments
- Align departmental goals with the overall objectives of the company and stakeholders
- Prepare and manage the departmental budget, including the forecast of future resource needs
- Content Development and Quality Control:
- Continue technical writing deliverable reviews for quality and compliance
- Lead the content development process for writing assignments and procurement submissions
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism Technical Writing, Technology, or a related field
Required Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in federal, state, and local government solicitations for healthcare, technology, or data analytics sectors
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in technical and proposal writing, with at least three (3) years in a management role
Required Skills:
- Proven experience working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to quickly adjust to changing priorities and technologies
- Experience in managing a technical writing team, including providing performance feedback and professional development opportunities
- Strong understanding of technical writing, RFX processes, and proposal management best practices
- Proven experience incorporating technical writing, RFX processes, and proposal management best practices into existing processes and workflows
- Experience with RFX automation tools (e.g., QorusDocs, SharePoint, etc.), knowledge base development, and resource allocation tools
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail and adherence to branding guidelines
- Ability to grasp complex technical concepts and translate them into clear, compelling text and diagrams
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and other relevant software
- Deep understanding and proven experience analyzing emerging trends in data interoperability, utility, and security
- Ability to conduct and experience leading strategic content sessions and workshops, including creative thinking and problem-solving skills to develop innovative content strategies.
Preferred Skills:
- Master's degree or Society of Technical Writers certification
- Project Management Certification - PMI-PMP
