Job Description
Performs duties associated with the physical storage and retrieval of materials in the Library Collections Annex (LCA).
Uses industrial lifting equipment requiring specialized training and certification.
Responsible for accuracy and consistency of materials accessioned into inventory control system.
Uses digitization tools to produce and deliver copies of materials requested from Brown library users and members of other institutions.
Provides library users with timely access to library materials through both physical delivery and digitization activities.
Performs scanning and digitizing tasks associated with library services.
Scans journal articles, book chapters and full length books on occasion.
Processes digitized files, reviewing for quality and performs post processing activities, including uploading,downloading or delivering digital files.
Warehouse inventory/warehouse forklift..
•Ability to interpret complicated instructions and use judgment within established
procedures without close supervision
•Ability to use computers and computer applications
•Ability to learn new technologies and systems necessary to maintain effective job
performance
•Familiarity with automated inventory control systems preferred
•Capacity to review and adjust to new workflows as required by changing technology
•Certification and training on Raymond Order Picker and Raymond Walkie Stacker Lift
Truck will be required
•Ability to work at height not exceeding 35 feet
•Physical strength and stamina for prolonged standing, lifting, and carrying heavy library
materials
•Must be able to lift and carry boxes weighing in excess of 40 pounds; good body
mechanics required
•Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and operate electric lift equipment while at heights up to 35
feet
•Ability to read fine print, worn print and barcodes with or without assistive technology.
•Ability to perform work accurately and at reasonable speed
•Good interpersonal and communication skills.
•Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
•Ability to interact favorably with the public and coworkers

Uses specialized equipment (e.g. portable data transport unit, forklift) to retrieve, refile,
shelf trays and boxes in the high density storage area
•Loads and unloads boxes, bins, book trucks, and other carriers of library materials
•Performs daily safety check to test operation and function of industrial lifting equipment and recharges and waters industrial lifting equipment as needed
•Vacuums and cleans materials accessioned into the LCA
•Copies and prints duplicate barcodes and affixes to items
•Maintains specialized printers
•Sizes, sorts, counts, and creates batch track worksheets
•Adjusts, reconfigures, and labels shelves and consolidates items to utilize shelf space efficiently
•Scans barcodes into the Annex inventory control system
•Generates and uses inventory control system lists. Maintains inventory control by retrieving, sorting, and re-filing circulating items.
•Has proficiency with cataloging and inventory programs (e.g. Alma, Caiasoft, LCA inventory control system)
•Reads and interprets bibliographic citations and verifies that items retrieved match citations
•Locates articles and book chapters for scanning requests and produces scanned files, using given citations
•Retrieves, searches, scans, and reproduces library material in collaboration with other staff
•Identifies and creates digital copies of source material requested for course reserves or resource sharing
•Prepares retrieved materials for delivery according to a variety of digitization processes and delivery methods
•Reports technical problems or scanning operational problems to the supervisor
•Scans items to create electronic copies as needed and makes them available to patrons.
•Identifies problem requests; identifies solutions as appropriate and informs appropriate staff or patrons
•Receives and processes requests for digitization through various channels, e.g. Alma, email, etc.
•Performs quality control on digitized media (e.g., checking file quality, naming, etc.) according to established guidelines; modifies digitized media as necessary
•Keeps accurate statistics relevant to work performed
•Communicates effectively with appropriate library staff within the University
•Provides customer service and assistance to patrons in support of library services.
•Verifies and prepares requested items for delivery to campus locations
•Folds and assembles trays for use in shelving
•Properly handles delicate and fragile materials
•Performs related duties as required
