The Amazon Buy with Prime Developer Experience team is looking for an experienced API technical writer to deliver best-in-class technical documentation for developers to enable them to integrate Buy With Prime into their [off-Amazon] shopper experiences.

You will play a key role on the Buy With Prime team crafting clear, concise, well-structured and comprehensive documentation for our API. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers and engineers, to curate, grow and maintain a robust library of accurate and up-to-date API documentation and developer resources. As an experienced technical writer, you will bring your experience creating developer-facing documentation, guides, release notes and other developer learning resources to convey complex technical information to both experienced and new developers.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Plan, write, and manage a robust library of clear, comprehensive, best-in-class developer-facing documentation, including user guides, FAQs, how-to-guides, blogs, API documentation, release notes, tutorials, and support content.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, support, marketing, external partners and other subject matter experts to gather information, understand functionalities required to author high quality documentation that is consistent and accurate.
  3. Define best practices, content standards, processes and workflows for managing/prioritizing content updates and ensuring consistency for all developer-facing content.
  4. Collect, collate and distribute developer feedback to identify areas of improvement for our documentation strategy and influence the product roadmap.
  5. Bring a sharp eye for structure, organization and developer experience to ensure all content for product updates and new releases is accurate, up-to-date, complies with standards and is consistent across sites/destinations where we reach developers.
  6. Attend product readiness reviews, product demos and roadmap reviews to stay informed with an eye to developing plans for feature release, enhancements and modifications.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Degree in Communications, Technical Writing, Computer Science or a related field.
  2. 5+ years as a Technical Writer working with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, REST, GraphQL and other programming languages.
  3. Portfolio containing conceptual or procedural developer documentation and API reference documentation that you have written.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 6+ years of experience authoring, managing and maintaining technical documentation experiences.
  2. Exceptional technical writing skills and knowledge of industry standards/best practices for technical documentation, with demonstrated ability to absorb and explain complex technical concepts in clear, concise and impactful language.
  3. Proficiency with technical writing tools and software and processes; previous experience with popular content management systems is preferred.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively and influence stakeholders.
  5. Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  6. Previous experience with creating documents, media and technical community content (interactive guides, tutorials, blogs, etc.) for a software development audience is highly preferred.
