Job Description
The Tianjin Juilliard School seeks a Senior Graphic Designer to bring Juilliard's mission to a global audience, expanding the school's brand presence in China, Asia, and beyond. A storyteller at heart, this individual will be a key member of the Marketing team, and will collaborate with other departments to create and develop inspiring visual materials in support of institutional marketing goals including brand awareness, education, recruitment, and more.
This Tianjin-based position is responsible for creating and maintaining key visual assets of Tianjin Juilliard's brand including all visual communication materials for print and digital, as well as upholding Juilliard and Tianjin Juilliard brand guidelines. This individual should bring a passion for building cultural understanding through nuanced visual communications and represent the school's vision and values. Consistent communication and collaboration with colleagues from both New York and Tianjin campuses will be critical to the success of this position.
Main Responsibilities
Design & Visual Communications
Responsible for Tianjin Juilliard's visual identity and usage guidelines.
Nurture, grow and monitor the brand and brand collateral, to ensure it represents the school's values and mission at the highest level.
Assist with the development and implementation of the school's branding strategies, planning of branding campaigns, and plans for all visual communication materials.
Create and lead design projects, including work processes and deliverables; ensure the consistency, quality and timely delivery of projects and campaigns.
Working collaboratively with the team, design conception and execution for materials that may include any of the following: posters and banners, viewbooks, brochures, concert programs, atrium cards, flyers, digital assets, advertisements, animation, event collateral, stationery, and merchandise.
Manage and update the database of design materials on a regular basis.
Lead design projects of institutional events, artistic performances and special events.
Provide ad hoc support to the Marketing team, departments, and NY colleagues per reasonable requests.
Assist in acquiring bids and supervise final production with appropriate vendors, as needed.
Supervise design freelancers, as needed.
Stay on top of design industry trends, best practices and standards for design software and technology.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree or above in graphic design, artistic design, visual communication, or related major.
Ideally at least 5 years of working experience in providing design services in a business, non-profit, or school environment.
Must bring creative ideas and the ability to conceptualize cutting-edge creative campaigns, through print and digital design skills.
Strong expertise in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office, a portfolio of previous design works is required.
Excellent planning and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Fluency in English and Chinese is a must.
Proactive and avid learner.
A good communicator with an open and collaborative style.
Knowledge or experience in classical music, performing arts, or educational institutions would be a plus.
Working knowledge or experience with social media and websites preferred.
Must have a passion for and commitment to exceptional quality.
Well-organized and extremely detail-oriented.
