Technical Garment Designer

to join our team in a hybrid capacity, working on-site at our Downtown Los Angeles office Tuesday through Thursday. We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in womenswear technical design, who thrives in a fast-paced environment. As a Technical Designer, you will play a key role in ensuring our garments meet the highest standards of fit, construction, and functionality, while collaborating across teams to bring designs to life. Roles & Responsibilities Measure garments with precision to ensure alignment with technical specifications. Lead garment fittings with live models, providing feedback to refine fit and construction. Record detailed and accurate fit comments, ensuring all specifications are clear and actionable. Create and maintain detailed tech packs, including specs, tolerances, grading, construction/stitching details, and fit evaluation notes. Collaborate with design, production teams, and external vendors to ensure accurate product development. Evaluate samples for fit, measurement accuracy, pattern, construction quality, and functionality. Provide clear technical direction and corrective action plans to achieve brand-specific fit and styling. Apply expertise in patternmaking, grading, and product engineering to drive efficient sample iterations. Possess in-depth and extensive knowledge of fabric, including an understanding of fabric content, behavior, and manipulation. Work comfortably with a global supplier base, particularly in China, ensuring clear and effective communication with overseas teams. Adapt to and utilize PLM systems, technical design software, and new processes efficiently. Professional Qualifications A bachelor's degree in Design, Technical Design, or Patternmaking is preferred but not required; equivalent professional experience in technical design or a related field will also be considered. 3-5 years of experience in Technical Design, specifically for womenswear. Comprehensive knowledge of patternmaking, garment construction, industry-standard fit, and grading techniques. Strong mathematical skills to ensure accurate spec revisions and measurements. Proficient in creating tech packs with a high level of detail and clarity. Ability to lead fittings confidently, take precise notes, and provide actionable feedback. Superior organizational, time management, and written communication skills. Team-oriented with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment while maintaining accountability and accuracy. Proficient in using a variety of software and systems, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, AirTable, and Adobe Illustrator. Comfortable navigating multiple platforms efficiently while maintaining a high level of productivity and accuracy.
