About the Role

The Company is seeking a Vice President of Media Relations to join its Public Affairs Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, planning, and execution of large-scale, multi-city agency press announcements and events. This role involves working closely with external affairs and project teams, including the Mayor, to highlight a wide variety of the company's projects and initiatives. The VP will also be tasked with writing and developing press materials, maintaining relationships with media at all levels, and proactively shaping stories. Crisis response and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment are essential. Applicants for the Vice President of Media Relations position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least 7 years of professional experience in government communications, political campaigns, or PR/consulting firms. A background in city agency press or communications is preferred. The role requires the ability to handle multiple priorities, thrive in a dynamic environment, and be a team player. Experience in shaping both the narrative and visuals of a story, as well as proficiency in media distribution programs, is necessary. The ideal candidate will be well-informed about the news cycle and current events, particularly those related to the city, and should be prepared to work non-traditional hours, including weekends. Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus, and New York City residency is required within 180 days of hire.
