About this position-Director, Marketing Automation & Data Strategy:

The Director, Marketing Automation & Data Strategy role is part of the Customer Experience practice that sits within the integrated strategy functions of the agency. The team is responsible for integrated strategy recommendations leveraging proprietary data and a strategic method rooted in behavioral science and experience design principles. Within this team, this position is responsible for crafting personalized brand experience designs that spark motivation within key moments and sustain momentum through carefully orchestrated data-driven touchpoints across the brand journey.

As a Marketing Automation & Data Strategist, you will be responsible for designing and implementing effective campaigns at the intersection of marketing automation technologies, data, and content.You will work closely with cross-functional teams across the agency, client, and third-party partners to design, execute, and analyze marketing automation campaigns, leveraging cutting-edge tools and technologies to maximize lead generation, customer engagement, and overall marketing performance.You will also be a steward for the use of data to drive next-best-action experiences and determine campaign performance with optimization recommendations.

We are expected to work within the native MarTech stack environments of our clients. As a result, we need to maintain fluency with the major tech platforms in use within healthcare marketing, such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe, Marketo, and Veeva. We strategically hire expertise to round out the team, cross-training within as we grow. You will be expected to apply your experience to the work and contribute to cross-training efforts to scale our collective knowledge.

This role will support existing work in three styles of engagement: 1) Within the context of typical agency of record work, 2) within the context of consulting-style engagements leveraging our proprietary OmniRedi framework to help clients transform their marketing organization to modern data-driven models, and 3) consultation and participation in new business efforts.

The role:
  • Expects you to lead client initiatives across marketing automation strategy/implementation and advanced analytics performance skills
  • Is a highly customer-facing position, bridging relationships within our internal Syneos network and creating relationships with external new and existing clients.Sits at the convergence of multiple disciplines to amplify our creative work and guide in-market execution/measurement
  • Is a crucial change agent helping to drive the elevation of the agency capabilities by integrating existing new offerings into daily agency behavior, gathering and communicating necessary refinements, and co-architect new offering development
  • Requires you to stay on top of emerging trends and changing privacy laws that impact CX Design, marketing automation, and the compliant use of data

Responsibilities
  1. Marketing Automation-Related:
    • Assist clients in implementing and managing digital marketing technologies, offering recommendations on emerging tools for enhanced performance.
    • Collaborate closely with client stakeholders to develop strategies for improving digital campaign effectiveness, customer acquisition, and engagement across touchpoints.
    • Act as a liaison between IT departments and clients to ensure seamless data integration into data lake and analytics platforms.
    • Help formulate a client-centric technology roadmap, including current stack optimizations and future technology acquisitions.
    • Support the streamlining and automation of campaign operations, focusing on maximizing performance, efficiency, and scalability.
    • Implement marketing automation governance protocols for clients to ensure consistent and compliant usage of technology across campaigns and teams.
    • Facilitate process standardization, working closely with clients to establish best practices in marketing automation that can be replicated across campaigns and platforms.
    • Review and document existing client workflows to identify opportunities for automation process improvements, making recommendations for standardization where appropriate.
    • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for clients, detailing marketing automation configurations, governance policies, and best practices for easy reference and future scaling.
    • Partner with analytics teams to provide clients with robust tracking and reporting mechanisms for performance insights.
    • Monitor and assist in planning for the necessary resources and infrastructure to accommodate business growth and adaptability.
    • Support client projects in an agile environment, demonstrating flexibility as requirements and priorities evolve.
  2. Advanced Analytics-Related:
    • Develop client/brand-level Data Ecosystem (all available data feeds, application, integration)
    • Develop client/brand-level Measurement Strategy and Success Definition
    • Own insights, thought-leadership at brand-level. Hold quarterly (minimum) business reviews to align in-market performance with brand-supporting efforts
    • Own client/brand-level CX Scoring / Attribution Modeling
    • Leverage lightweight data modeling tools (e.g.: R, Tableau, Databricks)
    • Identify opportunities within 1st and 3rd party reporting and develop CRO/testing cases/implementation plan
    • Identify/Develop Data Product use cases
    • Oversee work of analysts, engineers
    • Oversee internal data visualization dashboards, provide context and actionable insights
    • Oversee data access/acquisition

Qualifications
  • 5-7+ years of data-driven marketing automation strategy experience. Please indicate the nature of the experience (i.e., agency, client, consultant). Healthcare marketing experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in Marketo required. Additional experience with any of the following platforms a plus: Adobe Suite (AEM, Audience or Tealium, Target, etc.), Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and Veeva such as Marketo, HubSpot, Pardot, or similar tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, generate insights, and make data-driven decisions.
  • In-depth knowledge of email marketing best practices, lead nurturing strategies, and customer segmentation techniques.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and their integration with marketing automation platforms.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate marketing technology strategies in a simple way to ensure understanding amongst internal cross-discipline team members and clients in order drive the work and the process efficiently. A creative and strategic mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Additional skills in these areas are a plus:
    • Know how to assess MarTech system capabilities and assemble prioritized roadmaps
    • Value the importance of data quality as it relates to AI and ML (machine learning)
    • Ability to understand how front-end customer experiences require back-end connectivity
    • Experience working with patient data to develop HIPAA-compliant CRM programs
    • Agile methodology experience
  • Experience with global clients and regional rollouts

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $86,000 to $150,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
