Job Description
MailOnline is looking for a talented SEO manager to join the team in New York. Suitable candidates will have a strong background in commercially-focused search engine optimisation and experience of working in a newsroom environment.
In conjunction with the SEO and Commerce Editorial teams, you will be responsible for implementing editorially focused, commerce-driven initiatives that support the growth of MailOnline's digital offering. Working closely with the Commerce Editorial teams, you will lead implementation of a best-in-class SEO strategy for peak trading periods, including Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day, designed to drive traffic, up rankings and increase revenue. As well as helping to launch expansion into new content categories.
The ideal candidate will be a confident self-starter and multi-tasker with excellent organisational skills. You will be responsible for collaborating with teams across all areas of the business to maximise commercial opportunities that compliment and enhance the Daily Mail brand.

Responsibilities
- Work alongside editorial to integrate our best-in-class commercially-focused SEO strategy
- Make recommendations on SEO best practices and optimise stories with a commercial lens
- Monitor website traffic and engagement metrics to identify emerging trends
- Collaborate with internal teams, including editorial, SEO and commercial to maximise commercial opportunities
- Turn around compelling, commercially relevant copy in a timely manner to maximise traffic potential
- Responsible for pre and post publishing commercial SEO optimisations
- Help coordinate content plans for major sales events like Black Friday, Christmas, Amazon Prime Day etc and provide post-event performance insights
- Track and analyse campaign performance, adjusting strategies as necessary to achieve campaign goals
- Undertake keyword research and apply a data-driven approach to identify new content opportunities and put plans into action
- Report to the Global Head of SEO
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent writing skills and digital journalism experience
- Strong understanding of search engine algorithms, keyword research, and on-page/off-page optimisation techniques.
- Familiarity with a range of SEO tools (eg SEMRush, Google Trends, Google Search Console)
- Sound understanding of Google Discover, Google News, organic search and Top Stories
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- E-commerce or affiliate marketing experience is essential - experience working over key sales periods such as Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day is preferred
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
