About This Role:
Lamar University's Department of Art & Design is seeking a Tenure-Track Position in Photography & Digital Media to be filled immediately. Responsibilities include: teaching introductory and advanced photography and related courses; advising and serving on Photography undergraduate student thesis committees; collaborating with faulty to provide leadership in curriculum, equipment, and facilities development for Photography program; serving on department, college and university committees; and other responsibilities as assigned by the department chair.

Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)
* MFA in Photography
* MFA in Photography; expertise and professional experience in lens-based media; record of professional and creative accomplishment; ability to teach both chemical & digital photography & lens-based courses including foundational, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate courses in chemical and digital lens-based photography, as well as serving on Undergraduate Thesis Committees. Should demonstrate a solid grasp of contemporary lens-based media and the latest digital technologies relevant to the field. In addition, a commitment to innovative research and engagement with current issues in contemporary photography, including its evolving forms, is essential. All faculty members are expected to maintain an active exhibition record, demonstrate commitment to teaching excellence and student success, and contribute to departmental and university service. In addition, the position responsibilities include collaborative engagement within the department and university, and providing leadership in curriculum, equipment, and facilities development for our undergraduate photography program, serving on department, college and university committees. Other responsibilities may also be assigned by the department chair. The studio teaching load is 3/3 (the studio lecture/lab contact hour equivalency of the university's required 4/4 lecture load). In some cases, courses may be stacked to meet enrollment requirements.
Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience)
* We seek applicants that should be engaged at the forefront of contemporary photography and video, demonstrating an active exhibition record with potential for national and international recognition. A commitment to innovative research and engagement with current issues in contemporary photography, including its evolving forms, is essential. Some teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred. Commitment to teaching excellence and student success is essential. The ability to teach foundation courses such as 2D design or Art Appreciation will be considered a plus.
