Radio Frequency Technician- Production Operations II (Direct)-Contingent Worker

Job Description: Radio Frequency Technician
Monday to Thursday 10 hour shifts 5:00am to 3:30pm
***Must be able to pass soldering test and electronics test.
Primary Purpose:
Provide technical expertise in performing customer non-conforming product evaluation test, troubleshoot and repair of field test failure as required. Measure RF and DC system variables used for the installation and tracking RFID equipment, software, enclosures, and fixtures that are used in railroad operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Test AC and DC electrical specifications - per installation requirements
•Repair and trouble shoot defective units, and document processes and production operations.
•Assemble and test products to meet customer specifications.
•Read schematics and troubleshoot to board level.
•Programming of radio equipment
•Diagnose problems using the correct test equipment.
•Troubleshoot to the component level.
•Interpret schematics and drawings.
•Perform modification skills on a technical level.
•Typing ability to complete forms electronically.
•Work with a minimum amount of supervision.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
•A minimum of 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in Electronic Technology
•Must possess basic understanding of the hardware and theory of operations in radio communications as it applies to RFID radio transceiver technology.
•Proficiency in radio programming software and familiarity with windows systems - background in 2-way radio systems preferred.
•Ability to use wide variety of power tools, hand tools and test equipment (i.e., network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope.)
•Demonstration of basic skills in mechanical and electrical applications.
Other Skills and Qualifications:
•Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, schematics, test procedures, and engineering specifications.
•Technical writing skills required for internal and external documentation.
•Ability to communicate on a technical level with engineers, customers, and coworkers.
•Ability to apply commonsense and logical progression to problem solving challenges.
•Ability to comprehend instructions, specifications, and policies communicated in written, oral, and/ or diagram form.
