Job Description

The Digital Content Producer plays a major role in the day-to-day execution of Telemundo 48 El Paso’s digital news strategy, working with other local news staff to ensure the offering is consistently up-to-the-minute, differentiated, impactful and relevant to a new generation of local users. The role combines acute attention to detail, rapid response, editorial judgment and flair, and consistent day-to-day execution and project-management responsibilities within a 24/7 newsgathering operation. The job is developed in person working in a collaborative environment.

  • Gather, edit, package, and publish local news content – focusing on News, Weather and Traffic – to the station’s digital platforms, including stories from other sources like blogs, newspapers, online publications and magazines.
  • Devise distinct and original editorial concepts for digital franchises, series amd story-telling that optimize for different digital platforms.
  • Gather and package relevant content around key stories from a range of external sources, feeds, and content types.
  • Cut and publish daily content from local newscasts including Reporters and Anchor’s main stories.
  • Produce the homepage, main pages and subsections of the website and digital platforms.
  • Write text articles, edit and publish video clips; edit image galleries according to the local editorial “voice”.
  • Program key related sections for editorial impact, audience appeal and timeliness.
  • Manage and promote livestreams for digital-first programming and live news.
  • Ensure video offerings are updated frequently across all digital platforms.
  • Execute all publishing workflows for video, images and text including publishing to social media platforms.
  • Manage talent to get the latest video, teases, and footage coming from electronic devices (mobile/GoPro) to publish on digital cross promoting the content of our different deliverables.
  • Enforce editorial style guides, standards, and practices for Digital.
  • Participate in efforts to hit aggressive daily benchmarks for the volume and frequency of local content publication.
  • Work with editorial staff and editors in other local markets to share stories and resources across all Telemundo and NBC websites.
  • Assist in identifying digital content partnerships.
  • Present daily reports to Executive Producer/News Director of digital trends using tools provided by the company for that purpose.
     
Qualifications

  •  At least 1-2 years’ experience as an editor, writer or producer at a news organization or blog that creates content under tight deadlines.
  •  Must be at least 18 years of age.
  •  Experience working with social media, marketing products using social networking sites or creating content that lives on such sites.
  •  Experience working with content management systems.
  •  Experience editing video, creating social videos and photo galleries.
  •  Ability to work early morning, night and weekend hours when demanded by the group, breaking news, or other editorial responsibilities.
  •  Ability to work overtime, holidays and on weekends.
  •  Willing to work from El Paso, Texas and able to travel when needed.
  •  Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
  •  Good driving record and active driver’s license.
  •  Excellent news instincts combined with the ability to write succinctly and with flair.
  •  Ability to work decisively on multiple tasks and stories simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to react to breaking news, updating the news as stories evolve and writing intros and leads to video online content. Ability to create short videos for Digital audiences for use on the station’s digital platforms and social media.
  •  Ability to work in a team and across all departments ensuring digital formats that are accurate without typos or errors.
  •  Proficient in English and Spanish both written and verbal
  •  Proficient in Social Media platforms, such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.
  •  Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite.
  •  Experience using data visualization formats such as storytelling tools a plus.
  •  Experience with WordPress, Social Flow, WildMoka a plus.
  •  Detail oriented.
  •  Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Must be available to work long hours, various schedules, late nights, weekends, and/or holidays, under tight deadline pressures
