Audio Engineers are members of the Edgar Stanton Audio Recording Center (ESARC) team, led by the Director of Audio and Media Production. This team records most performances for the eight-week summer season, provides live sound reinforcement for many Aspen Music Festival and School concerts, and assists with livestreamed concert events. ESARC staff work closely with the other AMFS production staff and report to the Head of Audio Production on live sound calls.

Responsibities

  • Audio engineers will record a wide variety of performing ensembles encompassing symphonic orchestras, recitals, chamber ensembles, operas and choral groups, and new music ensembles in a variety of Festival venues. Additional responsibilities include:
  • Provide live sound support at Festival venues, working independently and as part of a team.
  • Participate in livestreamed video production of concerts, potentially including camera operation, score following, graphics and stream monitoring.
Requirements
  • Engineers should have experience and training in recording and editing classical music and/or providing sound reinforcement for a variety of music genres.
  • Applicants must have or be pursuing a degree in audio engineering. In lieu of a degree, 1-3 years of professional experience will be considered acceptable.
  • A positive attitude, attention to detail, and good organization and communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Pro Tools and Reaper DAWs is preferred. Experience in multiple other DAWs will be considered.
  • Livestreaming utilizes Aja encoders, Vimeo hosting, cameras by Canon, and BlackMagic Design switchers.
  • A background in classical music performance or composition is preferred.
  • Commitment to a team effort throughout the course of the summer program.
  • Ability to follow prescribed guidelines for recording and sound reinforcement.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States, be able to lift boxes up to 50 lbs or greater weights in tandem with other crew members and have a valid driver's license.?

June 16, 2025-August 27, 2025

Compensation

$14.81/hour plus housing provided by AMFS (valued at a minimum of $4.91/hour depending on location.) Overtime $22.22/hour

Benefits include AMFS season pass and paid sick time.

Applicants are encouraged to submit a stereo recording of representative classical music, no longer than 20 minutes in length, and an accompanying recording report detailing the recording process. A variety of shorter excerpts of various ensembles is preferred to long recordings.

Hiring Timeline
