The AMFS Summer Staff Photographer photographs the essential events and experiences of the eight-week summer season. Assignments include but are not limited to concerts, operas, family events, panels, parties/galas, lessons, rehearsals, venues, landscapes, student lifestyle, and portraits. Schedule flexibility is essential; evenings and weekends are regular. Position is an independent contractor and all photos taken during this eight-week time frame are the shared property of the AMFS and the photographer.

Responsibilities

  • Take photos of the Festival events and people as assigned. Must turnaround photos by next morning for social media use.
  • Take photos of Festival events and people proactively at unassigned events (students busking in downtown Aspen, etc.)
  • Shooting approx. 4-5 days/week, 1-2 events/assignments day. Some weeks may be lighter and some heavier.
  • Edit and adjust photos in Photoshop for immediate turnaround for social media (approx. 4 assignments/week)
  • Responsible for one large on-location photoshoot with 3-4 students that usually lasts 3-4 hours. Photographer will have an assistant for this day.
Requirements
  • Must have and bring own high-quality camera equipment including camera(s) for still and video, computer, software, and a monitor appropriate for photo processing.
  • Must be proficient with Photoshop and LightRoom.
  • Must have ability to be on time, work within a constrained classical concert environment, and respond to changing priorities.
  • Professional conduct and appearance are necessary at all times.
  • Must have a car while in Aspen.
Dates

June 30, 2025-August 26, 2025

Compensation

Compensation is based on experience level and will be determined at point of hire. (Independent Contractor position)

Benefits include housing in shared apartment for dates of residency and AMFS season pass.

Hiring Timeline

Application review to begin in January. Applicants who submit materials before February 10, 2025, will be given priority in the review process. Interviews will be scheduled to begin after February 10. Application to remain open until position filled.
