MARKETING MANAGER

Position Summary

The Marketing Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of all marketing, social media, and networking activities of the Bank. The Marketing Manager develops various marketing concepts, objectives, materials, advertisements, programs, press releases, and other special events approved by the Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Directors, ensuring the preservation and continuation of the Generations Brand. The Marketing Manager also serves as the primary contact of public relations and media contacts, advertising, and certain business development activities that promote the spirit, philosophy, dedication, and general direction of the Bank. The Marketing Manager reports to the President, with oversight from the Chief Growth Officer.

What does the Generations Bank Marketing Manager do?

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develops, implements, and manages (including budgeting) the Bank's annual Marketing Plan; this includes company website, signs, stationery, literature, posters, and all other visual elements of the Bank's marketing activities; participates in the creation and development of advertising copy for displays, newspapers, radio, television, social media, and networking; assists in decisions involving layout, scheduling, and vendor choices.
  • Develops and implements advertising and promotional programs to ensure market awareness of the products and services available to new and existing customers.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in federal and state banking regulations; ensures that necessary changes are implemented in a timely fashion.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains any marketing related Bank policies, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with the Bank's Marketing Plan requirements.
  • Visits each branch location on a consistent basis to foster increased visibility in the respective target market area.
  • Develops a broad marketing concept; directs market research projects; recommends methods for developing existing markets and opening new ones for customer services.
  • Represents the bank, through direct participation and/or attendance coordination, in various civic and community functions in all markets to enhance its image and developing new business. This is done both locally and out of town.
  • Serves as the Bank's primary contact for public, community, media, advertising agency and related vendor relations; controls the company's press relations and assists Executive Leadership Team in public and press relations matters.
  • Keeps informed of competitive situations and of new, successful ideas and methods in the marketing and public relations field.
  • Implements cost controls for marketing campaigns and monitors expenses to ensure compliance with budget.
  • Consistently applies superior decision-making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals, and requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures, keeping within assigned approval limits.
  • Assumes responsibility for special projects.
  • Gathers data and prepares reports for Executive Leadership Team, audits, and other personnel.

Supervisory Responsibility

The position of Marketing Manager is responsible for the supervision of one or more employees.

Environment and Physical Activity

The incumbent is in a non-confined office type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. The position includes driving a Bank or personal owned vehicle 25-50% of the time which includes exposure to the outside weather elements and moving mechanical parts. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc.

In the course of performing this position the incumbent spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), driving, carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, and reaching.

The incumbent for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, smart phone, copy and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), check protector, scanner and image systems, scanning equipment, encoder, money counter, credit card terminal, typewriter, computer terminal, laptop computer, personal computer, tablet, printers, or other equipment as directed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (you have to have these to be considered for this role)
  • Bachelor's degree and/or 3 or more years of marketing experience
  • Ability to perform the essential functions and physical demands of the job as listed above.
  • Current driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive while performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS (you will stand out if you have these)
  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to develop and execute a comprehensive marketing plan.
  • Proven experience in public relations, media relations, or corporate communications.
  • Proficiency in Adobe, Canva, and/or other relevant design and content creation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of media channels and public relations tools.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and listening communication skills to serve customers by applying understanding of expectations to collaborate well.
  • Passion for cultivating relationships with external constituents (i.e., media outlets and community organizations).
  • Experience in working with C-level executives and internal stakeholders.
  • Basic knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and Bank accounting policies and procedures.
  • Sound judgement in crisis management and handling sensitive communications.
  • Familiarity with digital media, social media platforms, and emerging trends.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a challenging environment.
