Pay Range: $41,600 - $52,000 per year

Purpose:
- Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a Technical Writer in the Technical Manuals Development Team. Located in Virginia Beach, VA
Job Description:
- Develop moderately complex technical information, prepare written text and illustrations, and layout and organize technical documentation.
- Develop technical documentation in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, and PTC Arbortext Editor for the Navy Publishing Application (NPA) Contenta system.
- Research and interpret design reports, drawings, equipment procedures, and test specifications.
- Write analytical and interpretive technical literature and procedures.
- Communicate with engineers and other personnel for information gathering.
- Perform Quality Assurance reviews.
- Assist in the mentoring and training of new hires.
Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years' experience in the planning and preparation of various types of technical documentation on Naval Ship Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E), Electronic and Weapons Handling Systems and Equipment along with experience in the detailed information search and interpretation of technical data in the preparation of technical documentation.
- Must have experience shall also include 1 year of experience developing technical documentation using either the Navy Publishing Application (NPA) or the Navy PMS Editor (NPE) or equivalent.
- Must possess an active DoD Secret security clearance.
- Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
Desired Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in English or Journalism preferred.
- Prior HM&E military experience preferred.
- Proficiency with personal computers and word processing, graphics, and publishing software preferred
- Possess attention to detail and ability to organize, prioritize, and complete projects in tight deadlines preferred
- Ability to express comprehensive knowledge of technical drawings, procedures, reports, and specifications at a 9th Grade reading level in a straightforward and understandable manner preferred
- Possess excellent communication, writing, grammar, and customer service skills preferred
- Ability to understand and follow applicable military specifications and best practices solutions.
- Prior Quality Assurance review and S1000D experience.
Security Requirements:
- Must have an Active DoD Secret security clearance and the ability and eligibility to maintain a Secret clearance.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel, up to 10%.

Physical Requirements:
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Communicating with others to exchange information and repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- May require climbing up/down ship ladders and enclosed spaces.
- Protective clothing or equipment and face shields or goggles shall be worn when welding, cutting, or working with molten metal.
