Job Description
NESN (New England Sports Network) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Producer to lead the live sports production team. The Executive Producer will oversee all aspects of live sports programming, ensuring high-quality broadcasts for various sports, with a prime focus on the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins. This role requires a deep understanding of all levels of sports broadcasting, strong leadership and coaching skills, and the ability to drive innovative storytelling in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the production of live sports broadcasts, including pre-game, in-game, post-game, alternative telecasts, debate, and news & information shows.
- Oversee a team of producers, on-air talent, and technical crew to ensure smooth, high-quality game, studio and video enabled podcast productions.
- As a key member of the Content Leadership Team, foster a creative, collaborative, and inclusive work environment for all members of the department and company.
- Excel in cross-functional partnership with marketing, sales, engineering, operations, product and finance teams to execute on aligned content strategies to achieve /exceed company goals.
- Ensure seamless integration of sponsored content and advertising in live broadcasts. Work in lock-step with sales and traffic counterparts to create seamless and effective sponsorship integration.
- Collaborate and guide producers and on-air talent to create engaging, informative, and entertaining content for game and surrounding coverage.
- Maintain the highest level of editorial and production standards, ensuring accuracy, professionalism, and compliance with NESN’s brand values.
- Constantly evaluate trends to develop and implement new production techniques and workflows to enhance viewer experience and drive ratings.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments, emerging technologies, and viewer behavior to continuously improve production quality and efficiency.
- Manage production budgets, including staff allocation, equipment, and logistical resources.
- Liaise with sports leagues, teams, and external partners to coordinate production logistics, schedule coverage, and ensure access to key sports events.

Qualifications:
- 10-15 years of experience in live sports production, with a minimum of 7-10 years in a senior, coordinating or executive producer role.
- Bachelor's degree in broadcasting, media production, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
- Experience leading large teams of more than 20 people.
- Extensive knowledge of live sports broadcasting workflows, including camera operations, graphics, audio mixing, backend production and post-production.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale live sports broadcasts, preferably in professional sports (MLB, NHL, etc.).
- Proven track record of leading video enabled podcast production and/or alternative game productions.
- Proficiency in sourcing, evaluating and negotiating vendor agreements, as well as negotiating and reviewing contracts.
- Strong understanding of sports, particularly baseball and hockey, and the ability to translate that knowledge into engaging live broadcasts and studio content.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with broadcast regulations and compliance, including FCC rules and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in broadcast and production technology, including control rooms, editing software, and live streaming platforms.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot live production issues in real-time.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on sports schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in digital content production and distribution (OTT, FAST, social media, streaming platforms).
- Knowledge of media rights, licensing, and sponsorship integration.
- Familiarity with sports analytics and data-driven storytelling.
