Daikin Applied is seeking a level II or level III Mechanical Designer. The Mechanical Designer will use computer-based tools to design parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage a parts list. Designers will also originate, develop, or modify product designs from conception to finished manufacturing documentation assuring quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost has been considered. Location: Staunton, VA - Hybrid
What you will do:
- Design parts and assemblies for HVAC equipment
- Create engineering documentation including SolidWorks, modeling, fabrication, and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards
- Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation
- Work with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedules
- Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills.
- Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness
- Gain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin products
- Demonstrate an understanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logic
- Be part of and function in a team environment including cross-functional and inter-departmental teams

Minimum Qualifications:
- Vocational or Technical Degree or Associate's degree in Design/Drafting
- Level II - 2 years of related experience
- Level III - 4 years of related experience
- Proficient in SolidWorks
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred Qualifications:
- Sheet metal design and/or HVAC products

The typical hourly pay rate for a level II position ranges from $28.61 - $39.75 in Virginia. The typical hourly pay rate for a level III position ranges from $31.73 - $44.23 in Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade in which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
