AEG is hiring: 2025 Video & Radio Broadcast Internship in Peru

The 2024 Prospect League Champion Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp are seeking a dedicated broadcast intern to join our award-winning broadcast team for the 2025 season!

Responsibilities Include:

• Provide color commentary for every Pistol Shrimp Broadcast
  • All 56 regular season games are broadcast on 103.9 WLPO, the flagship radio station of the Pistol Shrimp
  • All 27 home games are also simulcast on the Prospect League Streaming Network with high level remote video production
• Interview players, coaches, fans, etc. for the radio and video broadcast before, during, and after games
• Co-host the "Shrimply Good Podcast" a weekly recap podcast and the official podcast of Pistol Shrimp Baseball
• Search through game footage for highlights to be featured on social media and future broadcasts
• Assist when needed with stories for the website, writing media packets, and written broadcast materials
• Assist with the setup and tear down of all daily broadcast equipment

Desired Qualifications

• Previous broadcast experience at the professional, college, or high school level
• Great knowledge of the game of baseball and previous experience broadcasting baseball
• General knowledge of the workings of a radio station and sports broadcasts
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Ability to take direction and adjust quickly in fast-paced situations
• Detail-oriented, strong problem-solving, and strong decision-making abilities
• Proficiency in working with a team
• Ability to work independently
• Available for all Pistol Shrimp games including potential postseason games
• Ability to take and achieve all directions from all Pistol Shrimp supervisors and directors and work well with others
• Ability to display a positive attitude and professional demeanor while representing Pistol Shrimp Baseball
• Flexible, and willing to work long hours including nights & weekends
• Confident, self-motivated, and able to demonstrate passionate commitment

More Information:

• Location preference may be given to candidates within the Illinois Valley footprint or driving distance.
• Internship Compensation: $500 stipend for the summer and class credit, if applicable (we encourage applicants to consult with their academic advisors to make sure their work experience is suitable for filling degree requirements).
• Road game travel is on the team's coach bus and road hotels are provided by the team to replicate the minor league experience.

About the Pistol Shrimp:

• The Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp are an amateur wood bat summer league baseball team, made up of top college players from around the country who aspire to a career in professional baseball!
• Established in 2019, the Pistol Shrimp are part of The Prospect League, an 18-team league that spans the midwest from Iowa to Pennsylvania. The Pistol Shrimp are proud to call the Illinois Valley our home and play at Schweickert Stadium at Veterans Memorial Park in Peru, Illinois.
• The 2025 Pistol Shrimp season starts on May 27th and the regular season ends on July 31st, with the playoffs concluding on August 8th.
