DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, promote, present and evaluate appropriate programming, classes and outreach for adult patrons to meet the needs of a dynamic customer base.
- Provide in-depth reference and reader's advisory services for customers via phone, online chat, email and in person.
- Create brochures and bibliographies on library resources.
- Train the public in the use of library resources and equipment, including online catalog and online resources.
- Serve as a Digital Navigator, offering one-on-one sessions to assist patrons with internet adoption and use of computing devices.
- Provide excellent customer service in a team-based environment.
- Stay abreast of library trends.
- Assist with the preparation of the unit budget.
- Actively serve on system teams and committees, as assigned.
- Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed.
- Performs related tasks as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Thorough knowledge of public library services and programs
- Must be equally comfortable providing services via phone, online chat, email and in-person while providing a high and consistent level of customer service
- Knowledge of current and emerging technologies coupled with a strong working knowledge of both print and electronic resources
- Professional working knowledge of trends and issues in contemporary reference services
- Ability to operate computers with proficiency using library software, word processing and the internet
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate library programs for a wide variety of customers
- Ability to adapt programming to meet the needs and skill levels of customers
- Ability to interpret library policies and procedures to the public in a customer-friendly manner
- Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to interact courteously and effectively with library staff and the general public
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
