Job Description Summary
The Department of Writing and Rhetoric at Oakland University seeks applicants specializing in service learning and community engagement writing for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 15, 2025. The ideal candidate will possess a research and instructional agenda in service learning and community engagement, with a preferred emphasis on anti-racist writing pedagogy and practices in their research and/or teaching; help to lead community engagement, diversity, inclusion, and anti-oppression departmental efforts; provide professional development; and serve on vital department committees. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach various courses in our Professional and Digital Writing major as well as our first-year writing program. Expected teaching assignment is 3/2. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

- a Ph.D. in Writing and Rhetoric, or a related field by August 15, 2025. Candidates who are ABD will be considered if their degree requirements will be completed by August 15, 2025.
- a record of effective teaching first year writing courses.
- a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion that may be demonstrated through a research agenda in antiracism and/or the development of antiracist course content, assessment practices, or pedagogy.
