Building and maintaining relationships with donors, as well as collaborating with others to increase volunteer participation, are also important aspects of this role. Close cooperation with the leadership team and other stakeholders is essential in order to fully understand the organization's mission, goals, programs, and financial needs.

Essential Job Functions
Grant Writing
- Conduct thorough research to identify potential grant opportunities from a variety of sources, including government agencies, foundations, corporations, and individuals.
- Craft, revise, and meticulously proofread grant proposals that effectively articulate the organization's purpose, objectives, activities, outcomes, and budget in a clear and concise manner.
- Work with the Chief Development Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and program staff to validate budget, timelines, and negotiation of contractual provisions.
- Ensure timely submission of grant proposals to funders and diligently follow up on the status of applications.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive grant reports and maintain financial and program records along with supporting documents per the requirements of funders' grant administration guidelines.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of grant-funded programs and projects.
- Actively participate in donor meetings, tours, presentations, and events to foster relationships and showcase the organization's work.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration with funders, staff, and partners to ensure compliance with grant requirements meets expectations.
- Stay abreast of the latest trends and best practices in grant writing and fundraising to enhance skills and knowledge in the field.
- Provide support ensuring timely expressions of gratitude and fostering increased engagement from volunteers.
- Other duties as requested.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as English, creative writing, communications, or nonprofit management.
- Minimum of 3 years' proven experience as a grant writer or in a similar role within the nonprofit sector.
- Extensive knowledge of the proposal submission and fundraising process is essential.
- Must possess the ability to thoroughly study and comprehend the programs and funding requirements of Union Gospel Mission.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary, with the capability to write clearly and persuasively for diverse audiences and purposes.
- Strong research and analytical skills are required, including the ability to gather and synthesize pertinent information from various sources.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, is a must. Familiarity with online databases and platforms for grant research and submission is also expected.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and self-motivation are crucial, along with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
