Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Marketing and Commercial Strategy with extensive experience launching new oncology products and driving commercial pipeline strategy to build, lead and execute all aspects of IDEAYA’s marketing efforts. This individual will be responsible for developing all marketing strategies, with an initial focus on launch readiness and commercialization in the U.S. of our lead program darovasertib, in Uveal Melanoma [UM]. In addition, this role will be accountable for driving commercial strategy for darovasertib lifecycle management and our pipeline of exciting precision medicine assets. This is one of the first commercial hires for the company, and as a member of the commercial leadership team, this role will be integral in IDEAYA’s transition to a commercial stage biotechnology company.
What you'll do:
- Accountable for developing and executing all US and global Marketing strategies that align with the overall company strategic imperatives and support the safe and effective use of our products by customers and patients.
- Ensure strategic alignment with cross-functional commercial partners in commercial insights and analytics, market access, and sales in order to produce high quality marketing efforts that achieve company performance objectives.
- Build and implement the marketing plan including, but not limited to, marketing strategy, brand development, promotions, digital marketing, patient marketing, and marketing operations.
- Develop and execute comprehensive commercial strategy and plans to ensure successful commercial launch of darovasertib in the US and other ex-US markets.
- Partner with commercial insights and analytics to develop and maintain deep market insights through market research, competitive intelligence, and business analytics.
- Lead the development and implementation of commercial plans for potential future products including situation analysis, sizing/segmentation, positioning, messaging, and go-to-market commercial strategies.
- Partner with Clinical Development to inform trial design and prioritization of lifecycle plans and future pipeline assets.
- Maintain a high degree of presence, visibility, and ensure regular and effective communication with the field sales team to solicit input, feedback, ideas, and identify challenges and opportunities.
- Partner with commercial insights and analytics and finance to develop and maintain commercial forecasts, quarterly latest estimates, and operating budgets.
- Develop a close collaborative relationship with Medical Affairs to ensure that Marketing and Medical Affairs are working together on deliverables such as KOL identification and development, publication planning, medical congresses, advisory boards, and disease education/awareness initiatives.
- Proactively develop and maintain close relationships with US and international Thought Leaders to inform commercial strategy.
- Ensure successful agency and vendor partnerships.
- Develop and deliver marketing presentations to IDEAYA senior and executive leadership.
- Participate in portfolio strategy and commercial evaluation of business development opportunities as needed.
- Provide input as needed to other business planning processes such as IC planning, CMC, budgeting, etc.
- Ability to travel (domestic and some international) to attend industry and team/field sales meetings, customer engagements, market research, etc – estimated at 20% travel.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in business or related discipline required; MBA strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, including at least 8-10 years in senior marketing positions with increasing responsibilities, and 5-7 years in sales leadership roles.
- U.S. Oncology launch experience is required; Global launch experience strongly preferred.
- Experience building teams and commercial capabilities is required.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results in competitive markets.
- Proven success collaborating closely with other commercial disciplines (market access, sales, operations, training, insights/analytics, etc).
- Ability and willingness to perform in IDEAYA’s working-leader environment.
- Must be highly analytical, and comfortable with formulating and delivering data-driven, fact-based analysis of the business.
- Must be resourceful, demonstrate an agile and lean mindset approach, and be a creative problem solver.

Total Rewards:
At IDEAYA Biosciences, we care about our employees and strive to provide a market-competitive total rewards package, including base pay, an annual performance bonus, company equity, and generous health and well-being benefits. The expected salary range for this role that is based in our South San Francisco, California office is $334,000 - $346,000.
The final salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the office location, the final candidates’ experience, and performance during the interview process.
