Description

Fast-paced government entity seeks Media Specialist/Videographer to join an agency-style team to increase awareness and visibility of policy and legislation on multiple platforms on behalf of the Caucus and its legislators.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter capable of creating content for different voices and platforms, multitasking and handling multiple projects with varying deadlines. Candidate must have knowledge to set up, operate, and maintain equipment used to record and transmit video productions, including posting to multiple social media platforms. Candidate must be able to collaborate with legislative & policy staff when promoting legislative initiatives, and lawmakers & district office staff when promoting constituent service and local events.

Candidate will work with Communications Office Managers, Hub Managers, Photography and Digital staff to make sure caucus messaging is simple, timely and informative. The candidate will need to balance creativity and speed to ensure materials are distributed to media and the public in a timely manner.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and curate digital media content appropriate for multiple platforms.
  • Prepare, organize and record interviews and other content in the Capitol Complex and off-site. Setup of cameras, tripods, audio and lighting. Experience with Sony XDCam and Blackmagic cameras is a plus.
  • Edit video content in a Mac environment. Final Cut Pro X and/or Adobe Premiere experience is a plus.
  • Produce graphics and digital content. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Apple Motion and other creative content production applications is a plus.
  • Post timely and effective content to social media platforms, including writing compelling language to accompany video.
  • Collaborate with legislative & policy staff to ensure content is understandable and relatable.
  • Collaborate with district office staff to ensure content is localized and timely.
  • Prepare lawmakers for effective communications with the media and public.
  • Travel throughout the state to attend legislative activities and manage media events as required.
  • Perform any work-related duties as assigned.
  • Requires onsite support of team members, staff, and Members, especially during Session. Session essential employees must be physically present at the worksite on Session Days.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in media and/or Communications (may substitute 4 years of additional work experience for degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related Media/Communications experience.
  • Valid Driver's License required- frequent travel during work hours.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player. Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time and perform under strict deadlines.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The employee is exposed to the moving of mechanical parts of office equipment. Working longer than a normal working day is required based on the session schedule of the House. Travel, including occasional overnight travel, is required.
