SUMMARY OF DUTIES The Communications Specialist is a vital member of the Communications Team within the Child & Family Service Office of Advancement. The Communications Team has cross functional responsibilities, including supporting internal and external marketing, communications, public/media relations, fundraising, and donor relations. Responsibilities of this position include: Work closely with the CFS Communications & Advancement Team, departments and programs, and PR contractors to execute a comprehensive communications strategy with the goal of increasing awareness of the organization and its mission. Create, implement, and carry out processes in support of the strategic goals of the organization. Develop quarterly constituent e-newsletters and other e-communications. Craft social media messaging and maintain the monthly social media calendar (including monitoring engagement). Design graphics and layouts for fundraising/donor collateral and executive projects. Develop & execute monthly awareness campaigns. Liaise with PR contractors on all aspects of collaboration with CFS. A successful candidate will be well-organized, have strong writing and communication skills, be able to adapt writing and communications for intended audiences, work well under pressure, balance multiple projects with competing deadlines and priorities, and maintain brand consistency. This position requires consistent and predictable attendance. Some evening and weekend work will be required based on business needs. EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency - general major. Requires basic knowledge or training in a specialized or technical field or trade, such as social work, professional accounting, finance, business administration, and marketing. EXPERIENCE Over one year, up to and including two years. SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Graphic design using the latest graphic software programs such as InDesign and PhotoShop. In-depth knowledge of Digital Marketing channels, tools, techniques. Proficiency in SEO, PPC, social media management, and email marketing. Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision-making. Ability to create engaging and informative dashboards and reports from data. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and marketing automation tools. Knowledge of MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Must be responsible, dependable, well-organized, take initiative, and demonstrate high integrity. Skills and abilities to coordinate and implement multiple projects and assess priorities. Proactively and assertively address issues as they arise and work to continuously improve procedures in the Advancement Office. Must be able to handle stressful situations and perform work requiring sustained concentration. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people and situations. Understand and support the organization's goals, philosophy and mission, vision, and values. OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island. This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions. Requires contacts both inside and outside at all organizational levels. Requires considerable tact, discretion and persuasion to obtain results. May present new methods, programs, and controversial issues. Improper handling may affect operating results and the delivery of participant services.
