General Statement of Duties

Provides a range of services in support of Henrico County's five elected supervisors, including communications, event planning, speech preparation and constituent relations. Builds and maintains relationships with elected officials, county leaders, residents, businesses and other internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Duties
Helps to connect the County's elected supervisors and their constituents, including residents, businesses and others, by providing timely and professional customer service, responding to inquiries, demonstrating problem-solving abilities and linking constituents to appropriate County agencies and services.
Plans and executes public town hall meetings for elected supervisors, including arranging locations, determining topics and presenters in coordination with county agencies, managing technology requirements and collaborating with appropriate county agencies to promote meetings.
Researches, drafts and edits various written communications such as correspondence, speeches and talking points for news media interviews.
Excellent written and oral skills and proficiency with the English language, grammar and writing professionally; experience with operations of local, state or federal government
Ability to understand and follow complex instructions, policies and data; makes sound decisions independently, appropriately involving supervisor as needed; excellent organization skills with the demonstrated ability to plan and execute assigned work effectively to successfully complete assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner within established deadlines and budgets.
Non-supervisory. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Serves as a lead worker assisting and providing guidance to other Public Relations Specialist and internal stakeholders.
Works in an office setting; may work in various indoor and outdoor locations based on assigned duties.
Visual and hearing acuity sufficient to interact accurately with a diverse audience of citizens. Physical ability sufficient to perform assigned duties in an office environment and at various other duty-related locations as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Four (4) year degree in journalism, public relations, communications, public administration, government, political science or a related field; and four (4) years of public information work experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Additional Information
The anticipated salary range for this role will be between $66,352 and $80,039, commensurate with the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
A valid driver's license is required to perform assigned duties at various locations.
A criminal history check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
