About the Role
Ford AV is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Design Estimator to develop comprehensive audio, video, lighting, and control system designs that meet both Ford AV and industry standards. This role involves creating detailed line drawings, rack details, and narrative descriptions to support pricing and labor estimates. Working closely with the sales team, you will obtain essential clarifications from clients or vendors to deliver accurate and effective designs.

What You’ll Do

  • Design audio, video, lighting, and control systems based on Ford AV and industry standards.
  • Prepare detailed line drawings, rack layouts, and system descriptions to assist in project pricing and labor estimation.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to obtain client or vendor clarifications on project specifications.
  • Ensure all design deliverables align with project requirements, schedules, and budget constraints.
  • Provide technical expertise and input to optimize design solutions for complex projects.

What We’re Looking For
Required

  • Proven experience in AV system design.
  • Ability to prepare bills of materials and preliminary labor/travel cost estimates.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Visio and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret project specifications, blueprints, and system drawings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with a track record of meeting deadlines.

Preferred

  • Certified Technology Specialist-Design (CTS-D) or Certified Technology Specialist-Installation (CTS-I) certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Electronics Engineering Technology (EET), or a related field.
  • Experience in AV installation or construction management.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies in the AV industry.

Physical Requirements
This position encompasses a combination of office and field responsibilities, necessitating both physical and mental capabilities to effectively fulfill the job requirements. This role may also involve occasional travel, including overnight stays, requiring flexibility in working hours and commitments.
