ASL Interpreters Needed
Location: Newport News, VA Area
Positions: Two Full-time Roles Supporting Students in Special Education

Overview:
We are seeking two passionate and skilled ASL Interpreters to support students in a special education setting. These roles are excellent opportunities for professionals working toward EIPA or RID certification, offering a chance to contribute to students' educational success while gaining valuable experience.

Position 1: ASL Interpreter for Middle School Student
  • Student Profile:
    • The student has a hearing impairment but is not deaf.
    • ASL is still being learned by the student and is rarely signed back.
    • Responsibilities include interpreting, providing assistance with prompting, redirection, and engaging the student in classroom activities.
    • Position Details:
      • Full-time, special assignment.
      • Focus on interpreting and overall engagement support.
      • Qualifications:
        • Fully certified ASL Interpreter preferred.
        • Candidates with a strong ASL background actively pursuing certification are encouraged to apply. Position 2: ASL Interpreter for Kindergarten Student
          • Student Profile:
            • The student is deaf and municates using ASL at home.
            • Has a solid foundation in ASL and is enthusiastic about learning.
            • Primary responsibilities include interpreting and supporting the student in classroom engagement and understanding directions.
          • Position Details:
            • Full-time.
            • Focus on interpretation and additional classroom support.
            • Qualifications:
              • Fully certified ASL Interpreter preferred.
              • Candidates with a strong ASL background or paraprofessional experience working toward certification are wele to apply.

                • 10-15 minute screening call with a Soliant Education Recruiter.
