Job Title: Music Therapist
Reports to: Executive Director
Status: Hourly Non-Exempt/Part Time
Location: San Diego, California
Hours: 16 – 32 hours (2 – 4 days)
Hourly Rate: $28 – $32, based on experience

Resounding Joy is a San Diego-based nonprofit dedicated to transforming lives through the healing power of music therapy. We utilize clinical and evidence-based interventions that support each client’s social, cognitive, emotional, motor, physiologic, physical, and mental health goals. Our board-certified therapists serve people of all ages from premature infants to those receiving end-of-life care in settings that are emotionally and financially accessible.
This job description is for a part time music therapist to conduct music therapy and recreational music services in individual and group settings for a variety of populations. Position has potential to grow to full time.
Music Therapist Responsibilities
· Deliver a mixed caseload of clinic, home, and facility-based contracts.
· Provide direct music therapy services for clients and families, virtually and in-person, individual and in groups.
· Maintain assessment, evaluation, documentation, termination, and report development for clients
· Collaborate with client’s multidisciplinary team as required and necessary (PT’s, OT’s, SLP’s, Activity Directors, Teachers, MD’s, RN’s).
· Exercise good judgment and confidentiality in dealing with staff, clients, and the community
· Attend and participate in staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with supervisor and event-related activities as requested
· Additional tasks/opportunities as assigned
Resounding Joy Populations Served
· Sounds of Legacy Program: Well seniors and older adults with neurodegenerative diagnoses and other conditions of aging, in our Wellness Center, older home facility and/or home setting.
· Sounds of Service Program: Active-duty military personnel, veterans, first responders, and their families, in our Wellness Center, VA residential or outpatient facility and/or home setting.
· Sounds of Healing Program: Children with a medical or mental health diagnosis and/or developmental disabilities, and their families in a hospital, school and/or home setting.
· Sounds of Community Program: Community health and wellness
Qualifications
· BA in Music Therapy or Equivalency Degree in Music Therapy required.
· Active Music Therapy Board Certification (MT-BC) required.
Core Competencies
· Musical abilities as outlined by the AMTA Standards of Practice.
· Ability to adapt vocally for individual or large group settings in speech and singing for up to six hours a day.
· Capacity to work with a diverse range of ages, intellectual and physical abilities
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Adaptable and flexible.
· Able to receive and implement feedback.
· Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
· Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Requirements
· Reliable transportation to and from appointments.
· Required physical abilities include typing, speaking, sitting, walking, and performing other necessary movements including ability to stand for at least an hour at a time
· Ability to pass background check, fingerprinting, and drug testing.
· Current on all vaccinations or approved medical or religiousexemption. Must be willing to comply with partner testing requirements.
· Ability to safely lift at least 20 lbs. for transporting instruments.
