Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $31.691 - $39.614 - $47.537
The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will depend on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
To prepare, implement and evaluate music services with individuals, families, and groups to promote, maintain, and restore physical, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects. The music therapist is part of the interdisciplinary team, working with the team to coordinate a comprehensive plan of care. Assist in the development and utilization of music therapy materials to educate staff, patients/families, and other professionals regarding music therapy. If the position is for Sharp Memorial, the incumbent provides spiritual care support to all of Sharp Metropolitan Medical Campus. This includes Sharp Memorial Hospital, Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns, and Sharp Mesa Vista.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy.
2 Years music therapy experience, preferably working in the health care field.
Music Therapy Board Certification (MT-BC) - Certification Board for Music Therapists - REQUIRED
Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Music Therapy.
Essential Functions
Department competency: Knowledge of theoretical and experiential use of music therapy and services, including the use of music and musical elements to promote, maintain, and restore mental, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual health. Demonstrates competency in the use of voice, guitar, and other instruments in the implementation of music therapy.
Develop plan of care: Develop and implement the plan of care as evidenced by documentation and include patient/family and members of the IDT. Revise the plan of care according to patient/family member's progress and/or re-assessments. Document the plan of care in the electronic medical record.
Documentation: Document all music therapy activities in the daily log.
Education and teamwork: Provide education and in-services to staff. Consult with other disciplines regarding supportive tools that can complement music therapy goals.
Music therapy assessment: Assess emotional and spiritual well-being, physical health, social functioning, communication abilities, and cognitive skills through musical responses.
Other special assignments: Participate in planning and implementation of special programs and services, demonstrated by other special events as requested.
Plan of care: Plan for and participate in IDT meetings as requested. Recognize barriers to communication with clients and seek expertise and assistance from the interdisciplinary team and clinical supervision to establish a therapeutic relationship.
