Job Responsibilities:
Prepare and prosecute patent applications in the U.S. and international jurisdictions
Conduct legal research and analysis on patentability, infringement, and validity issues
Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and designers to draft high-quality patent applications in technology fields such as software, artificial intelligence, networking, IoT, and quantum computing
Manage and lead patent preparation and prosecution strategies to meet client's business and technical objectives
Conduct interviews with patent examiners to advocate for clients' intellectual property rights
Advise clients on product design, user interface, and patent-related legal issues
Assist in due diligence and analysis for intellectual property transactions and mergers/acquisitions
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of patent laws, USPTO procedures, and emerging technologies
Provide strategic counsel on intellectual property portfolio management and protection
Job Requirements:
2+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience
Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
Experience working with technologies such as software, AI, IoT, networking, and/or quantum computing
Strong legal writing, analytical, and communication skills
Experience working in a law firm environment, ideally with exposure to technology-driven clients
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Certifications:
Admission to a State Bar
Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Expertise in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for software-related technologies, AI, networking, IoT, and quantum technologies
Strong understanding of emerging technologies and their patent implications
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to legal and non-legal stakeholders
Familiarity with international patent prosecution and intellectual property strategies
Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and business leaders
