We are currently looking for a Full Time Judicial Court Reporter to join our District Court Clerk team located at the District Court working 8:00AM-5:00PM - Mo Tu We Th Fr.
Summary:
Keep written records of legal proceedings by creating verbatim transcripts of speeches, dialogue, legal proceedings, meetings and trials. The verbatim documentation in criminal, civil and other court proceedings require professionals who are highly skilled and trained in court reporting, which usually involves stenography.
Responsibilities: * Create verbatim transcripts of court proceedings, trial, and meeting using a stenographic - Document conversations to create legal proof if they must be accessed and verified at a later date - Ensure complete, accurate, and secure legal records - Search for information in official record - Supply judge with snippets from the transcript - Document all statements in official proceedings - Use audio equipment to record court proceedings
Competencies:
Skills: Essential: * Accurate typing and/or data entry skills * Accurately type 180 words per minute literary material * Accurately type 200 words per minute taking jury charge * Accurately type 225 words per minute dictation
Experience: Essential: * No prior experience required.
Education: Essential: * Other
Essential: * Must be a graduate of Court Reporting School
Credentials: Essential: * Certified Shorthand Reporter License * Must pass written knowledge test with a score above 70% * Required hours of continuing education
Essential: * Must be in good standing in the state it was issued. * 30 hours of continuing education
Working Conditions: Essential: * Pass pre-employment drug test * Travel is primarily within Chickasaw Nation boundaries
