Job Description
Nemours Children's Health is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Medical Writer specializing in pediatric healthcare to join our team in Wilmington, DE, Jacksonville, FL, or Orlando, FL. This role involves researching and crafting clear, accurate, and engaging content for diverse audiences, including parents, teens, and children-translating complex medical information into understandable consumer prose.
The individual must be comfortable with writing and editing content that is engaging, action-oriented and of a low-literacy level. The Medical Writer will develop patient education materials, patient instructions, educational articles, and video scripts, emphasizing creative storytelling.
Expertise in SEO-friendly content creation, atomic and fragmented content creation is essential to maximize reach and engagement. The successful candidate will have a collaborative work style, thrive on accountability, and be a superb communicator of ideas, both orally and in writing.
Essential Functions
1. Patient Education Materials: Write and edit patient instructions, brochures, and educational guides that are easy to understand, medically accurate, and culturally sensitive.
2. Parent & Teen Education: Develop engaging articles and resources supporting parents and teens navigating pediatric health topics, ensuring content is relatable and informative.
3. Content for Kids: Create fun and age-appropriate educational materials and stories to teach children about their health and well-being.
4. SEO Optimization: Craft content optimized for search engines, using keyword research and SEO strategies to improve visibility and user engagement.
5. Video Scripting: Write compelling scripts for educational videos, including storyboarding and incorporating storytelling techniques to make complex topics accessible.
6. Storytelling: Leverage narrative techniques to craft content that educates while emotionally connecting with diverse audiences.
7. Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare professionals, marketing teams, and designers to ensure medical accuracy and alignment with brand messaging.
8. Content Review: Stay updated on the latest pediatric healthcare research, guidelines, and trends to ensure all materials are current and evidence based.
9. Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee's supervisor such as creating blog posts on current, relevant pediatric topics and supporting Nemours.org or KidsHealth.org
10. Ensure the editorial content meets medical review and quality standards and expectations set by owner and key stakeholders.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field required. Advanced Degree (e.g., Master's or Ph.D.) in Public Health, Health Communication, Medicine, or a related field is a plus.
