The Senior Director of Marketing & Communications for the Baton Rouge Market oversees the development and execution of organization-wide marketing & communication strategies and develops an effective transfer of information to various audiences (both internal and external). Also oversees a variety of specialized marketing and communications responsibilities. Provides communications expertise (written and verbal) in the following categories: media relations, employee communications, community relations, advertising and marketing. Works to generate a climate of understanding and support for the health system, its mission, its accomplishments and its relationships with all audiences. Qualifications 10 years relevant experience in marketing and communications, Master's degree can substitute for 2 years of experience. Bachelor's degree in related field Communication, public relations, marketing campaigns Job Function Participates as a member of the System Marketing team by offering creativity and idea-sharing for concept development and marketing strategy evaluation. Initiates and builds positive and productive working relationships with members of the print and electronic media Researches, writes and distributes press materials to promote fair and positive media coverage of organization the medical center (e.g., backgrounders, press releases, tip sheets and advisories). Develops proactive media relations strategies. Responds to media-initiated inquiries and requests for information. Ensures that media is escorted during taping/interviewing in hospital facilities. Serves as media liaison when hospital codes or the Command Center is activated. Stays abreast of local, regional and national coverage of healthcare issues affecting the healthcare organization and anticipates their impact. Demonstrates a complete understanding of all policies and procedures concerning the marketing and communications activities with emphasis on privacy and release of information. Creates opportunities to share organizational messages in community at large. Collaborates with market operational leaders in planning and implementing appropriate community events to create broader awareness and community goodwill (e.g., community education events, fairs, and community screenings). Collaborates with System Marketing team and local market leadership to accomplish organizational goals. Responsible for social media activity that aligns with system goals as well as represents the local market and its activities. Consistently provides employees with one-way and two-way communication routes to meaningfully engage with the organization. Develops employee communications aimed at helping individuals understand their role as important team members and as public ambassadors of the health system. Works with System Internal Communications team to implement plans that serve the integrated organization goals as well as the local market needs. Ensures that department is represented in various service groups and community organizations. Supports executive messaging, presentation opportunities, spokesperson duties. Works with System MarComm team and the Chief Marketing Officer to encourage and maintain consistency in policy, procedure and dealing with the many audiences of the organization. Coordinates with the system team for creative concepts and production of various advertising tactics. Coordinates and gives input to the system team for planning and purchase of advertising. Coordinates daily tasks in order to make the best use of time and takes into account the time constraints of others in performing those tasks. Maintains and provides ongoing development of web-based electronic content. Maintains the confidentiality of employee and patients records and uses complete discretion when discussing employee and patient matters. Leads and manages an effective market-based team as an integral component of the larger system MarComm team. Other Duties as Assigned
