Business Development - Marketing Manager (Law Firm)

Overview The Manager will plan, coordinate, and implement the firm's practice groups and individual attorney's activities with respect to marketing, business development, and client services. In addition, they will be involved with the upkeep of the website, its SEO, and social media sites. The right candidate will have an opportunity to develop into a Director. This employee reports to the C.O.O. Objective Increase visibility and brand recognition to strengthen and expand the firm's client base. Responsibilities Strategic Planning and Implementation: Assist in the development, implementation and management of the firm's business development and client services plan consistent with the firm's strategic plan. Support and track business development and marketing plans for the practice groups and individual attorneys. Assist attorneys with individual bios and practice groups with development plans. Provide accountability and follow-up. Participate in the firm's strategic planning activities with respect to evaluation and improvement of present client relations and services and future business development opportunities and activities. Find speaking opportunities for practice groups and quote opportunities in business journals and news. Source potential new clients and provide background research/info on them. Assist attorneys with new client pitch materials and research on potential clients. Promote our women-led teams and majority female business group, and Mandarin-speaking lawyers. Funnel inquiries that come through the website. Media/Public Relations: Prepare and manage public relations activities and communications for the firm, including press releases, new attorney announcements and notices, other firm announcements and media materials. Advertising: Design (or contract with and provide oversight to outside vendors to design) print and online advertising and negotiate media buys and associated contracts. Newsletters, Brochures and Promotional Materials: Design (or contract with and provide oversight to outside vendors to design), updates, and maintains online and print marketing and business development materials for the firm and attorneys, including firm and attorney profiles, practice descriptions, brochures, and electronic news. Photography, Logos, and Promotional Products: Arrange for professional photoshoots and maintain image and logo files. Prepare various art files (headshots, logos, graphics) for use online and in print materials. Website and Social Media: Manage the firm's website via a content management system (WordPress), social networking for the firm and its attorneys (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.), and other electronic communications, including drafting and updating content and images, evaluating effectiveness, and working with outside technical consultants as needed. Continue to improve the look and feel of our website. Update firm profile on multiple media and post news. Increase and maintain Google business reviews and placement with responses. Maintain Constant Contact and track news blasts. Directories, Awards, Surveys: Manage the firm's profiles on online directories and referral sites, submits information for attorney and firm awards, promotes awards, and determines which directories should be launched and maintained. These would include Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers and Rising Stars, Top 25 Law Firms, M&A Law Firms, Construction Law Firms, etc. Assist attorneys and practice groups through the processes. Participate in multiple surveys including Best Companies to Work For, Best Law Firms, Top 50 Construction Firms (Nationwide), etc. Event Planning: Manage business development/client services functions, events, and opportunities for the firm, including firm conferences, seminars, and other special firm-sponsored events. Promotional Products: Manage, order and maintain CBS branded/promotional items as needed. Experience Required College degree with a preference in marketing, business, and/or communications strongly preferred. At least 5-7 years in a marketing manager/director (or assistant director) role within a professional services environment (law firm experience preferred). Needs a proven record of strong leadership, marketing management and strategic planning experience. Skills Required Demonstration of high organization and managing multiple projects. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills; be able to work well with attorneys and staff at all levels in the organization. Needs good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator or similar), Adobe Acrobat Pro, and website content management systems (WordPress) and Constant Contact. Good understanding of SEO and Google Analytics including ability to code as needed, interpret metrics, and implement projects that will improve online performance and visibility with Google organic searches.
