Uclacommunicationsboard is hiring: Copy Intern in Los Angeles

Uclacommunicationsboard, Los Angeles, CA, United States, 90079

Content Summary: Copy Intern at Los Angeles, for Uclacommunicationsboard

Pacific Ties Newsmagazine was created in 1977, becoming the first Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) student publication in the country. Our newsmagazine was born out of anti-imperialist activism, and we strive to uphold these values as a publication. We encourage our staff to utilize our platform to speak out against injustice within and outside of the APIDA community.

Position Overview

As a Pacific Ties copy editor, you will be responsible for attending weekly staff meetings and working closely with writers to fact-check and correct grammar, spelling, and style errors before articles are published both online and in print. As copy editor, you will help the staff finalize their pieces before reviewed by the section editor. Grammatical, punctuation, word flow, and spelling errors should be your main priority, but stay alert of anything that might go against our style guide. Our staff meetings are held from 6-7PM on Wednesdays.

Requirements

We are looking for dedicated students with strong attention to detail. Applicants can come from any major and do not need prior journalism experience to apply.

Application Process

If your application is accepted, you will be contacted by email for a short interview. Please note that mandatory media law and writing training for new staff members will occur following acceptance of the position, tentatively slated for Jan. 19 and 26.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Julianne Le at jalle@media.ucla.edu or @pacifictiesmag on Instagram.
