DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM: Marketing & Communications

REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Marketing & Communications

TIME COMMITMENT: On-going support for events

LOCATION: Varies based on event location

COMPENSATION: Unpaid

PROGRAM SUMMARY:

The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Marketing & Communications Department provides comprehensive and responsive marketing and communications support and counsel to all internal and external audiences and stakeholders in support of the Center’s mission and ongoing work. Primary internal audiences include our programs, services, Development department, and Leadership team. Primary external audiences include clients, media, policymakers and elected officials, other nonprofit organizations, and the local, national, and international LGBT community.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The team operates under an integrated marketing structure with an increasing focus on digital media. We are seeking skilled volunteers to join our team. By joining the Marketing & Communications Department as a volunteer, you will have many opportunities to create an independent course of learning and skill development while working closely with our team of professionals as part of the largest LGBT organization in the world. You will have the opportunity to work at events that will vary from large fundraisers to more intimate gatherings, held during daytime, evening, and weekend hours. Pictures/videos taken will be used for various online and printed materials.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Photography and/or Videography (event coverage);
  2. Editing (photos, videos) a plus, but not required;

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Ability to maintain a professional attitude with co-workers, volunteers, clients, donors, and celebrity guests;
  2. Responsible, respectful, and dependable;
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, and gender identities in a multicultural setting;
  4. Ability to work under direct and general supervision;
  5. A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBT people;
  6. Must provide their own photo/video equipment.
