Job Summary: Backyard Products is looking for an experienced Senior Designer to join our in-house Brand Creative Team, based out of our headquarters located in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor, MI. Our Brand Creative Team is thoughtful, collaborative, and works cross-functionally to ideate and execute creative work that connects with shoppers and creates extraordinary brand experiences.

The Sr. Designer should have in-depth branding, digital, and DTC experience with a track record of developing brand identities, website UX/UI, digital ad design, email, print collateral, POP, and display signage. This cross-functional thinker and doer will work closely with internal and external teams to ensure best-in-class branding, messaging, and performance across all marketing channels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop brand assets to reinforce and support individual brands in our portfolio, including websites, digital marketing assets, social media assets, still graphics for video, etc.
  • Participate with the team in re-branding work; work alongside Creative Director to either redefine or refine an existing brand in a way that will better connect with modern shoppers.
  • Create original identity branding: identity/logo concepts, revisions, finalization, and companion graphic elements.
  • Design direct-to-consumer website UX, UI, and page layouts; work with Creative Director to ideate and implement best-in-class website designs with high rates of conversion.
  • Work within retailers’ internal product page design systems to create best-in-class product pages on retailers’ websites.
  • Create print collateral, POP displays, and signage, from concept through print-ready files; use copy docs, photo assets, and layout guidelines to create layouts.
  • Develop 3D render, photo, and video strategies.
  • Create mood boards for 3D render creation, photo and video shoots.
  • Collaborate with other Designers, Copywriters, and Creative Director to make creative work the best it can be.
  • Participate in group brainstorms to ideate new solutions to business/creative challenges.
  • Participate in creative reviews, both giving and receiving critique.
Minimum Experience and Education Requirements:
  • HS Diploma/GED
  • Minimum of 5 years of design experience
  • Portfolio that demonstrates proven expertise and high-quality execution. Applications received without portfolio will not be considered.
  • Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc).
  • Skilled in the use of FIGMA.
Preferred Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or equivalent
  • Knowledge of web design would be beneficial
